Hello Everyone,

I just received my new Radiator and it does not have provisions to mount in the factory location. If you can show me some photos of how you made mounts to secure it to the Rad Support.

Thank you in adsvance

Thanks JCC, Problem is no Tig welder. I am looking for the slip over style Ideas. If I had a Tig or one readily available I would go that route.

But thanks for the help

Thank you

Only way to mount it would b to find rubber lined saddle brackets, like the old Chevys used.

You did not specify what size or if it's a cross flow or not but here's a few pics of a 26" crossflow in my A-Body.

I just fab'd up some aluminum with a 90° bend on the one end, same size top and bottom.

I used some adhesive backed foam rubber on the core support where the radiator makes contact to hopefully negate chances of rubbing a hole in the radiator.

Mine has an aluminum channel on top and bottom, I used 1/2" square tube across the top and bottom. The top has arms that bolt to the radiator support and the bottom has legs straight down that bolt at the bottom. I don't have any photos but can snap a couple if needed.

When I had a radiator, I carved out some bracket out of half inch aluminum, glued in some pieces of rubber I cut off a radiator hose, Worked great for years

Did it come with a flange on the top and bottom...
if not.. bend up a set of brackets that you can
line with rubber... 2 at the bottom and 2 at the
top...bolted to the radiator yoke

Here you go. Brackets with 3/8 bolts cut off. Rubber are modern style muffler hanger that locate on 3/8 bolts that are welded to the mounts with the threads cut off. Radiator core slides down over the rubber. Top has 2 bolts horozontally though the core support with stainless tube spacers to space the radiator back.

Interesting solutions here. One thing I think most are considering, but hasn't been directly mentioned yet, the avoidance of making the radiator a structural member of the chassis, by stiffly mounting it. Not sure what the outcome might be, but everybody seems to not want to find out, and iagree.

how would one mount the radiator on a chassis type car without a core support ? for my 33 dodge humpback panel truck, i had in mind to mount the bottom in rubber similar to the "muffler hanger" mount. however for the top, i have no room for rods to the firewall as the engine is in the way, plus that method would impose stresses on the core due to being a solid type of mount. i thought of running a rod from the top of the radiator to the chassis at an approximate 45* angle and culminating at a rubber type cushion mount, but my mind draws a blank as to a type that would look very simple yet effective. think a "rubber lined" heim end of sorts. or could a solid heim be used on the chassis and a spring used at the top of the radiator core ? this would allow for some flex or movement of the radiator independent of the chassis, but still keep the radiator mounted securely along with the upper and lower hoses acting with the mounts. or would i be farther ahead to just fab a stout horse shoe type fixture and attach it to the chassis and mount the radiator in rubber to it instead ?

don't know if this ? was for me, i'm no expert by any means. I would keep it simple but effective. I like the ideal that Doug mention about the muffler clamp use as a cushion fro the radiator up. always guys with a better ideal thumbs

This is how I did the Rampage... the race car is
basically the same way.. the bottom has a U bent up
with rubber in it and you can see the top.. I have to
lean the radiator over to clear the height... the upper
rail on the radiator is reinforced with 1/8" alum
EDIT
Also the top cover holds it it place.. the 1/8" alum
is angle thats mounted on the top of the radiator that
the cover screws into also

When I ran one of those universal radiators, I just made some brackets, marked where I wanted them welded, and paid a local shop $25 to tig em on.
