My little motor has .018 ring gap on top and second rings.
Under 6-8 pounds of blower boost, is pushing the gaps together an issue. Should ring gaps be set wider under such circumstances?
I don't want to pull the motor apart.

What's the top ring at? This is a 3.94" bore?

I set mine at .020 top and second with a 4.065 bore and was told that could handle a 150 shot fine. On a smaller bore .018 might be fine at 8 lbs.

Mopar to the bone!!!

The boost pressure is not the concern, it is the extra heat a turbo generates. Much like a nitrous application, the top gap should be a little wider than for N/A application.

Yep, gotta run them wider for the heat issue. Usually 4-5 thou over NA motor.

It's for a blower setup, not a turbo, regards my question
Torqstorm blower setup, produces 8 pounds boost max

Don.. if you put a inner cooler it would help in multiple ways..
it would keep the temps down and make more power.. as said...
heat is what hurts the rings(butting)..plus try to keep the
coolant temp down... its all heat

Even with a blower there is heat, but not as much.

At only 8 lbs of boost, you don't need anything special as FastmOp states. Mr. P also makes a good statement but you really don't need an intercooler at those low levels, but everything sure does help. Plus, you will eventually up the boost...

That setup only makes 8 pounds of boost. It's a nice governor on my wallet. More power, more money, less wife likes the idea.
Figure it's enough to dip well into the 10's.

The more, longer you drive the car the more the intake manifold inlet temps go up, more heat is not good work
As far as end gap no way would I think of using that close of a top gap next time on your deal, make it .022+ and don't worry anymore. I would set the second gap between .024 to .030 also up
Once the ring gaps butt together, especailly at W.O.T., it will cause more problems than you want to have shruggy
