Hey guys,
My sons engine is just a short as he has always used my heads but it is time he got his own. Engine is 440 30 over TRWs, about 11.5-1, cam is 266 @ 50, 603 lift solid mechanical, external oil feed. shift kitted manual 727, new 5000 stall. Car is for fun/street/drag. My heads that have been on it (before the 5000 conv)are Indy SR's that have been maxed out and flow 370cfm, his exaust system will not allow an exhaust port in a lower position.
We are thinking of goin another set of SR's but should we stay with standard port size with this combo ? Do the new Trick flows have raised exhaust port ?

Trickflows are standard port location , they are a performance replacement of stock head . Didn't you have some trickflows for this ? Maybe wait a little for the trickflow maxwedge supposed to be coming soon ? You have a little more comp and cam than my 440 with cnc stealths , mine 10.78ish , 258@050 - 520 net lift bigger heads will let you grow - when you go stroker . LOL Tex

Tex, the trick flows I posted was on a friends 440 build.
As I said in another thread we have a 547 in the young blokes VG Valiant but it aint staying there LOL. I think some here will say stay with a smaller port for his combo but maybe with the 5000 stall the big port will be OK ??. It should be an easy 10.50 car.

Al , I have a 5000 stall with my standard port heads goes 10's . I fitted max wedge Sidewinder heads from Todd@Moparts/Marsh Performance on a mates 440ci motor . it has 10:1 , 4400ish vert , 4.1 gears and a 1050 dommy . I did put a little smaller cam 251/259 Lunati . Drives great on the street , I think it went 385/390RWHP . This was within 1000klm after rebuild and through 4 mufflers , so there is more to come hopefully You could call Todd , prices were good on the Sidewinders . And he was great to deal with . I don't think they needed offset rockers either , I was only replacing the max wedge Eddys and did not have to replace rockers Stock exhaust port location , had Hooker Comps on it

I would go with another set of SR heads. Pushrod lenght should stay the same saving a couple bucks.

Larger port heads will most likely tempt you to run it at higher rpm because it will make power higher up, and I got nervous when I saw the heavy pistons mentioned. For my I would go with standard port heads and keep the revs down to make it live a long happy life.
