I'm not sure where you should buy it, BUT if I were you, I'd get aluminum, instead of steel.

WAY easier to work with.

i was thinking of getting the pre bent line. i'm afraid if i bent it up myself it would kink on the bends.

OK. That's a little different

If you do go with something you make yourself, the aluminum stuff is so soft, you can bend it by hand,(no tool required) and it won't kink.

There are a few benefits to running your own. You can route it so you don't get ase many bends, etc. and obviously cost. $30 or so will do the whole job.

I bought mine from Jegs. Aluminum CAN be kinked, if you bend it too sharp, but it's soft enough that you can bend it by hand, take your time, and avoid kinks.

a trick when you want to make it as straight as possible when un-coiling it from the box, is to lay it on the floor and take a long wide board, maybe a 2x12 or even a piece of plywood, and use that to roll it out. it's the same theory as using a long board for sanding your car.

go slow, take your time, and it'll come out geat!

and alunimum doesnt rust!

what's the reason for the upgrade? Do you have a 3/8 sending unit? if you don't a 3/8 line won't be worth much. Unless you have a mid 11 second car there is really no need to jump to 3/8. The problem I had w/ finelines is the ship the line bent in half...so you have to straighten it and it's not as easy nor will it ever be as straight as it should be. If you can wait and pick one up at a show or MOPAR event you won't have to have it shipped bent in half.

I have fine lines and they went in nice. You have straighten them but they put a peice of tape indicating where the bend should be straightened. I have the stainless 3/8 for a 69 roadrunner and I like the fit and look. I thought installation was pretty easy. I was restoring my car though so there wasn't too much in the way. Although I dont think it would have been that much harder.

Once you bend the tube the metal distorts...It does have the tape but the line will never be nice and straight again. I did install pretty easy but I had to fudge it at the bend more than a few times..even after I thought it was straight.

Napa has a 25'steel roll for about $25 if you want to bend it yourself.

I second the suggesation of using a coli of aluminum tubing (from Summit, Jeg's, etc.). Using a coiled tubing bender ($3.00 at your local Ace Hardware store) you can make kink free bends wherever you need to, and get a custom fit along the tubing's entire length. You'll need a flaring kit, too, but it's easy to flare aluminum after a bit of practice.
