A friend of mine is rebuilding a 1970 Coronet and is looking to put in a 1/2" sending unit and fuel lines. Does anyone know who sells these? Looks like Summit only has 3/8 and 5/16.

Thanks

That is amazing! When I replaced the pickup and sending unit in my '64 Polara years ago all you could buy at the time were the stock 5/16" versions. I made mine by bending up some 3/8" tubing and I thought that was an upgrade!!

I checked both of those sources and it is true...I thought it was a misprint when I read this thread.

Did you also use 1/2" fuel lines? If so, where did you get yours?

Are these the ones that bad sending units?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Probably. I've had a Herb's, Van's, and one other "brand" that I don't remember. All have read incorrectly. I tried several different gas gauges as well, eliminating those as the issues. It's definitely the newer sending units.

I make my own, I picked up about 15 20 foot long pieces from a freight salvage place, paid $7 per stick, it was real parker tubing, some were a little bent but easily made into fuel lines. I also got the parker beading tool, it puts the little bulb on the end of the tube for a hose and clamp. Tim

When I built mine (3/8") I swedged and soldered the tubing in place and the heat baked the sending unit so it would not work whiney

So I went down to a local shop that sold Mustang parts and found an identical sending unit that fit a '67 Mustang and strapped it to the tubing with zip ties. I put on a new sock and everything worked just fine in the '64 Polara. up
