I had not heard it's bad for paint. As long as the paint is fully "cured" catalyzed 14 days lacquer 60 days) the silicone won't hurt it. Now, if you are going to paint, the silicone has to be completely removed (as does any contaminant) for proper paint adhesion.
Yeah well I know paint shops will not allow a can of it within 5 miles of the premises, and I have seen some painting experiences where you cannot get the fish eyes out because of some of the siliconized waxes.....
