Whats the latest stuff to use now??

Old school was to spray silicon spray on the weatherstripping, but that turned out to be bad for the paint..

Whats everyone using? TY

To install, I use glass cleaner. To keep them from sticking to whatever they contact, I'll wipe a little ArmorAll or WD40 on them. If you plan on painting where the weatherstrips contact paint, neither product would be a good idea as they both have silicone; you'd have to find a silicone-free alternative, which might be available at your local auto parts store or body/paint supplier.

I used to work on Saab's and they had problems with the right rear door being hard to close. We used Door Ease on the weather strip, don't know what it's made from but it worked well.

I've always used silicone, as it's a component of both natural or synthetic rubber and is also a component of paint. I've spray it on the leading edges of cars and trucks before taking road trips, and washed it off at the destination, alond with it goes bugs and the road grime.
I had not heard it's bad for paint. As long as the paint is fully "cured" catalyzed 14 days lacquer 60 days) the silicone won't hurt it. Now, if you are going to paint, the silicone has to be completely removed (as does any contaminant) for proper paint adhesion.

Yeah well I know paint shops will not allow a can of it within 5 miles of the premises, and I have seen some painting experiences where you cannot get the fish eyes out because of some of the siliconized waxes.....

Mercedes has or had a product called I think waxlit we used it on all the chafing/squeaking door seals back in the late 90s worked great was like a liquid paraffin wax in a can.

Paraffin wax will dissolve in mineral oil and vegetable oils. You could make your own versions of these products. Of course you could just rub some mineral oil or veg. oil on the seals as well.....

The Mercedes stuff is this:

Impressive and does resolve squeaks and such.

For general cleaning and protection I use this:

Although it looks like the brand owner may have changed, since the bottle looks totally different. Does not contain silicone.
