Didn't know if I should put this in this section since its not necessarily a question but I just did the install of the twin electric fan upgrade with one piece shroud from a Ford Contour V6 in my '71 Satellite. If you had doubts about it effectiveness, don't.
I picked it up a couple of years ago to take care of my air flow cooling problem with a lesser quality electric fan. You know, cool at speed, runs hot idling. It is almost drop in. It fits perfectly in place on the radiator and all I had to do is drill four holes in the tabs that are used for the fans factory mounting. I also drilled and tapped 4 holes in the radiator "frame" where you mount the stock Mopar shroud. I'm using the 26" Champion aluminum radiator which practically bolted right into the stock location and is touted as allowing the stock shroud to bolt right up. So I would think this would work with the factory radiator as well. I did place a spacer (exhaust manifold washer) behind the plastic mounting tabs so it didn't break when tightened as there was a small space between the mounting location and the tab. And I used a washer under the bolt to spread out the clamping force.
I already had a relay in place for the previous fans so I tied right into that. They have a 20 amp fuse on each fan to handle the initial turn on of the fans and it's handing it just fine. I did not try to wire in the high/low speed control/sensor which looks to just be a thermostat of some sort so they only operate on high. I still can't hear them over the rumble of the 408 and Flowmasters though :-) . This thing moves some serious air. Almost couldn't pull the paper of the a/c condenser that I was using to test the suction. I adjusted the activation temp to where the car just idled for about 30 mins and stayed right at 190 degrees. I actually had to adjust it up because it was making the car run too cool.
So all of this was a really long winded path to say it works and if you were were on the fence about it, DO IT!
I didn't think to take any pics unail it was complete.

I run that fan on my Jeep with a stroker motor, I went with the spal PWM controller and I like it. Tim

I've had one of these in my car for about 3 years now. FYI: The factory contour wiring uses a 60A maxi fuse to power both fans and a 70A relay. The little resistor pack deal is for the low speed. The low speed has always been more than enough to keep my car cool. You basically turn the power going into that resistor/diode on and you get low. The factory does this by having the computer ground the low relay to turn low on and the high to turn high on. I used the dakota digital controller to mimic this. It sounds like the fan needs at least 20A constantly when running? What kind of alternator you running? I'm running a magnum based motor so I'm using an alternator that can handle the output. I wouldn't be able to if I were still running the one I had before this motor. I would've upgraded to one of the aftermarket bolt ins, or the one of the Denson units.

I don't have a/c right now but still plan to add it in new the future. Golduster318 may. Maybe he'll chime in. I could see adding in another relay that is triggered by the he a/c.

I don't have A/C, but the dakota digital controller has a way to wire it where it will trigger the High fan speed with the A/C. I have this feature connected to a toggle switch, because originally, I thought I might need to be able to cool the motor off fast, but even the low works really well.
I drove in the Woodward Dream Cruise traffic and never even needed the high speed...and it was 87 degrees outside.

I thought about a conversion but I am to worried about having much current at the bulkhead. Just wire it up with a relay that pulls all the power directly off the alternator. The power to run it never goes through the bulkhead. The relay is wired to supply power with ignition in the run position. Since you only need a small trigger wire to supply power to the relay which turns it's on in the run position there is no extra draw through the cars original wiring. And I also ran a bypass wire so the amp guage won't see the power either. Says dead center and never shows charge or discharge so I installed a voltmeter.

All the loads should be wired on the alternator side of the ammeter feed. The ONLY current going thru the alternator should be to or from the battery and the battery only, NOTHING else.

I had the contour fan setup on my champion 4-core and it was OK, but with the A/C condenser I could not get good airflow. I replaced the 4-core radiator with a Griffen 2-core with 1.25" cores the radiator is a but thinner so I think airflow through the radiator should be better. I also am trying two 13" SPAL cooling fans. This was changes I made this winter so I won't know how well they work for a few months. I'm really surprised you say this. Mine is a 3 row champion 26" and though I don't have the a/c installed I still have the condenser in place. I figured it would be a good shield to protect my radiator fins from damage. Mine was moving serious air through both.
