As most of you know, my last dyno session ended in disaster. Well, it's been a long road back,{ 1 year}, & I finally got the new motor done. Last motor was a 572. This time I went to a 606 cu in.
Went to the dyno today, & things turned out alot better. I'm so happy I could scream. I was hoping for 1020-1050 hp.
What I got was 1124 hp at 7200 & 902 tq at 5700.
Can't wait till summer. Vern!!!

The carbs are 15 yr old pro-stock carbs. I'm borrowing them from the guy that made my intake. I can look for a part #, but there are some mods made to those carbs that I have never seen before.

I have heard you can judge a set of wedge heads by the length of the valves. Brewer valves come in a broom handle box!!

Yes it's a NRC dist. Are you implying there is something wrong with the dist. or wishing me good luck with the new motor?

That is some serious normally aspirated horsepower. Nice job. What kind of flow do those heads go?

Hi Greg, long time no see. I'm hoping to run close to that. I went 8.08 at 176 w/1028 hp @ 2570 lbs. Now with less weight [ alum block] & a little more hp, it should be close to that.

i don't know what the carbs actually flow, but it seems to me that big motor would like more cfm on the carbs. but, with that hp number, who knows? that's awesome

Wow
You just dont hear much about the Fred Brewer heads, I would love to here the details about them. Rocker system offset, intake/exhaust port location, valve size/length, runner volumes. Chamber size, layouts, valve angle etc.
I assume only fab'd intake correct? I mean one could adapt a cast intake?

I have to ask. What sort of money has been spent on this motor?

Round figures are fine. I'm just curious, as it all looks like top of the line stuff.

Looks really nice in the pictures man

Those heads do look really tall! I recall reading about them in Senatore's book...he said the valves were even longer than B1/TS's, IIRC.

Those flow numbers are much like the B1-PSO head Best Machine is selling.
I also wish a major company would buy the right to Freds heads. If for no other reason than to preserve a great mopar head!

Glad your combo clicked this time, thats a bad azz motor you have!

I wish I could answer all your questions, but I just don't know. I have some paper work on them, but not that much information. Yes the intake was made for me by a good friend. I have a cast single 4 intake for it that worked quite well on the 572.

Metal Storm, I don't know what the numbers are, but I can find out when I go back to get the motor. I know we could'nt use the cold air duct, so we just used the air in the room, not very big, so I don't know if that made a difference or not. You can see it on the video when I get it posted.

a closed dyno room makes a big difference.like going from sea level to 3,000 or 4,000ft about .08 or .10 on the correction i think.it would be on the dyno slip but it does not matter.i just asked.

i've wondered what happened to the cores and what not from these heads. as you mentioned i thought i remember seeing something that remarked they were for sale. weren't they based on an older AMC prostock head? aside from the quality control issues the were supposed to have at times they always seem to be a good performing head.

congrats on the sucess Vern...that video was a horror to watch

Pete, I can use the carbs as long as I need them. The owner doesn't want to sell & I don't blame em. I have other ( bigger carbs ) to try, but at this point, I think I'll leave well enough alone. The car is a 93 Daytona, MS chassis.

Jamesc, I don't know about the AMC head, but I have a picture of Freds AMC that he had a 572 w/his heads on it. I have talked to Fred many times since buying these heads, & he is a very nice & helpfull guy when it comes to his heads. Yes, they had some issues, but, when resolved, these heads really work good. Vern!!

Tjmarcus1, thank you very much. I've had the car for a long time, & I love it. A friend of mine owns a grafics shop & he made them for me. I have them on my 4-wheeler (tow rig) also.

Vern I did not know your car was a MS car..What does it weigh. In my continuing effort to confirm I own the worlds heaviest tube chassis drag car I am curious.

He said 2570 lbs was the old set up so this will be
less.

Sweet car! Sweet power!

Yes Al, that's race weight, with me ( 140, WET ) in it & full of fuel. With my little motor, ( 514 ), it weights 2465 race ready.
So, I guess you win. Vern!!
