Thanks again. I found the ash tray with the original dark green finish and it is flat and slightly textured. The paint shop couldn't replicate the texture but that's ok with me.

Padded ash trays were found in all b bodies. We had a padded ash tray thread going here not long ago. What do you consider early? My car was as posted in that thread as the latest car to have a pad 5/21/68 and have seen a good # up to early May. Seems they were used till gone is the only thing I can come up with.
And your interior color is what....They changed the design...There is no set date, when the stock of the first version ran out they started using the revised design...

My dash is red/maroone. All I'm saying is it wasn't a early thing. If there was a change it was as I said, a run till thety are gone, that's not limited to early. I have been trying to pin point a time when they changed with no luck. I have had cars with pull outs with earlier dates than cars with sliders. I am starting to think the sliders were a 68 run, but due to problems with the pads coming apart, like they do, many may have been changed and possibly early on. I have talked with many people on this and posted here and still come up without a 4 sure answer. I know 110% 4 sure mine is org. to my car.

Yeah I think green ran out early, black was first & maroon lasted the longest...
I have seen red/maroone earlier than mine with pull out from the same plant Saw a 4/8/68 GTX today with a black slider I sure Mike, A12, could post a link to that slider post if he chimes in.
