Considering buying stealth heads for my 383. I remember reading some people switch out the retainers and wanted to refresh my memory on that. I should be fine using my stock rockers, ect correct?

I know this has been talked about a ton on here. I tried search and had no luck, so if someone saved an old thread please link to it. thanks, jon

They come with Comp locks and retainers now, 7 degree. IMO its not necessary, if your cam works with stock rockers it should work with the stock stealth springs and 7 degree locks and retainers should be adequate.

Agree the as supplied 7 degree locks should be fine for a moderate hydraulic flat tappet. Upgrade is usually recommended for a high po hydraulic or flat tappet.

Pretty hard to imagine that the 7° stuff would not work those as well.

I bought a pair of the super stealths (bare) & they were on sale for iirc $399 ea & I got valves (Sources' iirc) & their required offset intake rockers (the whole shebang). Been sitting untouched for awhile now. they do look nice & a straighter port shape but even Source recommends the regular stealths to alot of people, not sure why

Mine are going strong after 5 years, and I consider them to have been a great purchase. Don't see how I could have gotten more for $900. I would recommend them for a street / mild strip build without hesitation.

Mine are one of the first sets made.Been on and no problems after lots of miles.I did change springs retainers and keepers as well as my shop cleanded them up and back cut the valves.i run a .588 solid cam so changing theparts was a no brainer. My machinist said the rest was decent but he likes to make stuff perfect.Im happy with mine.Rocky
