Hello again, I have another 74 RR question. My project originally had a vinyl top added to it, as it states on the fender tag as well as evidence I see around the molding. Well I finally found a 74 on EBay with the color and vinyl top that I am restoring. The top on my car went down the pillars around the windshield and the pic I have does not go that far, I just want to know which one was the correct top. I included a picture of the top I found on EBay, I'm just not sure who is correct at this point, or maybe both Thanks for the help.

I didn't think the RR's had vinyl tops?

It didn't, it was added as stated on the fender tag. I'll include a pic of that too:



I'm just not sure if the white remnants of a vinyl top on the pillars were added later of not. The whole thing is ripped off it, so I would like to replace it, I just don't know how far I should go. Thanks for the help.

The picture is what is known as a Halo top. It stops short of the sides of the roof. The cars with Canopy tops had tops that stop at the nearly the middle of the roof. The stopped at the top rear corner of the rear side window but go all the way across and down the front pillars. They also made full tops that went edge to edge and front to back.

I believe you could not get the Halo or full top on a RR but the Canopy was available. I am not guaranteeing that but KissAlien 440trk may be more informative.

For 1974 you could get either a Halo top (as shown on the top car) or a Canopy top on a Road Runner.

The Halo tops are coded V1*; as are full vinyl tops, which were only available on the 4-doors.

Canopy tops are coded V4* as on the shown fender tag. In this case V4W is a white canopy top.

Question 1 answered! or was that 2? Thank you very much guys, I was a bit confused when I saw the pic on ebay. I will do it in white as it was but I'm not sure if I can bear the gold. It would be a sleeper though, well not really with the hood, Thanks again!

I have a 1974 RR/GTX with V1W on data tag which is full vinyl top (white) if u need some pics i' ll email u some.

Well it looks like I shouldn't change the color then What book were you referencing? I need to purchase some more literature that is accurate. A parts book is in the works.

Thanks for the offer, but I now know what the Halo top is compared to the canopy. I would like to see a picture of a 74 with a canopy (V4) if someone has one. I can use it for reference when I do the thing.

I was going by the Chrysler Corporation Production Option Code Book, they call it a FULL Vinly Top, anyway we all know what it is. tks
