Built a new 340 for my dad's car and we've been running a stock pan but I have a Milodon pan on the shelf so I wanted to use it, extra 3qts of oil and better oil control.

We test fit it this weekend and I had to cut a pretty big notch in the K-frame for it to fit.

This is on a 1966 Barracuda /6 K-frame.

It looks like there is still plenty of metal to keep the K-frame stable but before I put the motor in I wanted to see what you guys thought.

I know they used to notch the k-frames pretty big when putting big blocks in 1967/1968 A-bodies back in the day.

The bigger question is what headers are you going to use. If they are the 1 7/8 headmen headers do LOTS of test fitting when using that pan. Ask me how I know.

I would shape a plate and weld it in there. If nothing else it will keep debris out of it.

iagree

The one I did I simply flipped the piece around and welded it back in (or rather, my Dad did the welding since I can't weld for shucks). up

Not only would I plate it, but cut it bigger so that the pan can come off. You'll be glad you did later.

Yes, weld in a shaped plate to close the wound and you will be okay.
