Guys being on a budget I would like to make gradual upgrades to my front suspension (67 B-body) with out having to buy a KIT from RMS I would like to go incrementally.

I am trying to find the parts to convert the LCA pivot to remove the torsions and go coilovers, I will eventually do the k member, tubular LCA and R&P steering but for now just uppers and coilovers but I need to adress the pivot. thanks

Henry

There are pictures out there of people who put a end washer on the LCA where the torsion bar used to interface. Tied the end washer onto the pivot.

Ask HDK about clearing things on the frame and how the shock needs to be located. He has the lower shock mount out further on his LCA. You need room for the spring.

Cheap and dirty way........get some old torsion bars, hack the end off and weld them to a plate. Make a tab on the frame to bolt this plate to. All you are trying to do is support control arm on both sides. Weld some tabs on control arm wherever they need to be to mount bottom of shock. Some use the Magnum Force adapters that use the stock top shock mount. I always just welded a piece of tubing across the inside of shock tower and hung two tabs on it for the top mount

That sounds awful heavy though. Here is a tubular LCA HDK made for my Demon.

Same thing Roy Hill did on his Duster many moons ago.

Thanks guys, lm going to put a little green together and buy the upper and lower control arms from HDK. I like the support bracket for the LCA pivot, it makes the pivot a double shear. And I can keep my stock K and steering.

I got 2 lbs each out of the control arms
3 lbs each side T bar vs coil spring an shock nuts
1 lb out of each spindle
1/2 lb using regular washers instead of the heavy strut washers

Magnumforce sells the shock mounts. I have also head Afco sell a direct fit coil over shock which could save you money on the mounts

I have been running coilovers with stock lower control arms in my street 65 Dart, no extra support. The strut rods provide a lot of support from twisting of the lower control arms, so IMHO there is enough strength with the stock deal to get by. I chose to put more support on the race Dart, supporting both sides

I have eyeballed my SBJ stock spindles and the extra metal for that pound.

Man, the technology has been there for over a decade to make these with laser sintered titanium (metal 3-D printing) with forged properties, just the way we want, then they machine them to fit like normal. Sucks being poor.
