Anybody know what a 2006 SRT10 4 door with a automatic will run in the 1/8. There is one at a local car lot that I am looking at. I need a new tow vehicle.

Not as fast as you'd think for a "500 hp" truck. The Lightning boys around here had a field day w/ those trucks when they first came out. Don't get me wrong, they're a bada$$ looking truck, just be aware.

I used to smoke them easily with my 2004 Quad Cab 4x4 5.7 Hemi with a 150 Shot smile

I have a friend with one and the trans took a dump twice, he quit towing with it and no more trans issues. They say your not supposed to tow with them and I guess that is why. His does have a little bigger cam, CAI and long tube headers fancy exhaust... it is very fast for a 6000 lb or so truck.

They do not tow any amount of weight, so don't buy it to tow! tsk I have seen them blow-up the 6-speeds racing, a few years ago at the Mopar Nats one scattered the trans and shut the track down for an hour! runaway

This one is a automatic with 38000 miles and it came from the factory with a 3 point hitch. I have been towing with a 04 extra cab 3.7 V6 Dakota for 4 years with no problem so you are saying this truck can not with twice the power and torque.

The club cab auto trucks were made almost specifically to tow. The head of SRT used his to tow an enclosed trailer with his race car in it. 6 speed trucks are not rated to tow 1 pound. I think the auto trucks were rated for 6500lbs or so. The trans is a 48RE with different converter and shift points.

the 4 door 10 has a factory 4.56 gear, 48re almost the same as the diesels, drive it right with a trailer and it will do fine, o ya and large brakes, get an sct tuner and lose the cats and it will really wake up, i know i have one.

There are a lot of these trucks in my area right now. The local truck fans prefer the diesels and jacked up 4WD, so the prices are better for the 2WD gas models, both the 10 cylinder and the 5.7 Hemi.

A 2500 model with the 5.7 Hemi will do all the towing I need. Actually my '87 with a fresh LA 360 and 4.10 gears will do nicely.

Cheatham, Have you ever made a pass in your truck? I am curious of your before and after modifications.

I bought the truck eary this year and it had all the mods and bolt on one could ask for, Bassani headers true duals with Hooker Max flos dumped before rear axle, 02s are turned off, coil packs, SCT tuner with custom tune, throttle body lowering kit, i never had it to the strip and ive never driven another 10 to compare the difference but it is a fun truck to drive, very responsive and pulls hard, i did pull my car its about 2500lb and trailer is about 800lbs so it not a heavy load, i visit the vtcoa forum lots of good info there.

The reg cab 6 speed man. has a 4.10 gear and is not the one you wanna be towing with but it is the more enjoyable one.

13.60 out of a 5500lb+ vehicle is pretty good and about right. Pull 2000 lbs out of it (be around the weight of a Viper) and you'd be in the mid 11's, about what a similar era Viper would run.
