What is the best way to install new exhaust manifold studs and do I need to put any kind of sealant on them? I want to make sure I get them in right the first time with no leaks. Thanks in advance!

use some thick viscous cement such as Permatex #1 or #2 in the toothpaste like tube & as said double nut it with (2) fine thread nuts to lock it in there

I double nut them in place but don't need to use sealant.

Depends on the head in question and if it's a blind hole or open to the cooling jacket.

If it's open, sealant is ok. If it's a blind hole you could potentially hydraulic the steup and crack the casting.

So, open sealant ok

Blind, no sealant.

But what heads ?

If they are not factory heads, iron or stage 6 style, they may not be wet and sealer won't be needed ...

I'd use the Indian Head sealer. Double nut to install.
