Looking at buying a 360 w/a 4spd auto out of a 1990 1/2 ton extended cab long box. I haven't seen it yet but I'm guessing this would for sure be a 518 (46RH) tranny?

Thx for the response. I know never say never but I was pretty sure it would be a 518, just wanted to be fairly certain before I drive 2 hrs to go get it. I only want the tranny (future project of putting it in my '67 Coronet) but I have to take the 360 with it. Wish I had a use for the 360 cause it's a pretty sweet small block. 308 heads (high swirl intake with a W2 exhaust port), a roller cam and it's still an LA, probably try to sell it but if it doesn't sell I'll moth ball it in the corner and save it.

if it turns out to be a 500 all is not lost--the old 904s are built up to drag racing strength with 999 internals...been running a 500 on my 64 for 10+ years....

The non magnum could possibly have the 500 in it. I've even seen them in 3/4 ton trucks back then, why? I don't know.

Being a 90 model it should be an LA Roller Cam block which are worth something to some folks...

Thx for the extra replies. I'll just cross my fingers and hope it's a 518.

I wouldn't hesitate to put an A-500 in a car, if that's what it turns out to be.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm putting in a 727 with a CRT torque converter this spring so it would be nice to be able to reuse the TC when I do make the jump to a 518 (hoping it's a 518, it's going behind a 440 so I'd rather have the 727 based one)

You do realize that the trans will need a bellhousing swap or an adapter to bolt up to a big block.

For sure Stumpy, I'd probably go with an adapter (also lots of cross member fabing)
