Today I was going to spray epoxy primer on the 62 dodge. Soon as I started I noticed that the paint was sputtering from the gun leaving gaps with no paint. So then removed the paint container and the air ran smoothly from the gun. Reinstalled the tank and still had paint sputter. I then tried just spraying thinner thru the gun but got the same results. Took the spray gun totally apart and cleaned it all. Could not find anything wrong, it all looked spotless.
Would anyone have any idea what would cause this? This is a suction type gun made by Defillbus. Not sure of the spelling on that. Do have good clean dry air.
Any ideas?
I went to get my 300 dollar other sprayer, the one thats gravity fed, hvlp only to find that is no where in my possesion! No idea how long its been missing. Dam thieves.

Thanks, Alex

It sucks but a $20 HVLP gun from Harbor Freight is better than most siphon guns. If you continue to use a siphon gun make sure the vent hold is open or else the gun will spray like crap.

Be sure the tip matches the p sheet for the product.

make sure the nozzle is tight and not leaking air (nozzle is under the air cap)

and yes. most syphon guns are junk.

Air vent in the cup is probably clogged.

When I die I want to go like my Grandfather did, quietly in his sleep. Not screaming like the passengers in his car.

there is a air leak behind the fluid tip or the packing's for the fluid needle.
it's probably the fluid tip.
if the cup vent were plugged the paint won't spray out of the gun.

it doesn't matter if it's a high or low $$$ gun they all can have this problem.

I always keep the air vent clear. Usually used this gun for spraying epoxy primer only.
I'm going to buy a new hvlp gun and be done with it.
Thanks guys. Alex

I don't use a siphon gun anymore, but executed many fine paint jobs with one years ago.

Take that back, I still use one on my paint pot.

Sounds like you do not have the painted thinned down enough....

When I was a kid I "primed" my 41 chevy in my parents car port... Primer was almost dry when it hit the metal and tip kept plugging up.. I was using straight primer with NO thinner.. LOL

Guy who traded me his 69 A12 super bee for it was a body guy.. Called the primer on the coupe "Rhino Hyde"....
