I've never seen a 265/60-15; Only 255's & 275's, but assuming they exist: with perfect backspacing on a 7" rim, they should barely fit.
My car has completely stock fenderwells, and trim (no rolling). I run 255/60-15's on 15x7 steelies with 4-1/4" backspacing, and they fit really well. I also have a set of 245/60-15's a set of 8" rims with 4-1/4" backspacing, and that combo fits, but they're much tighter. I plan on seeing if the 255's will fit on the 15x8 rims, but my sense is I'm going to have to cut or roll the lips a little.
The key is rim size and backspacing. Perfect backspacing seems to be what the steelies are: 4-1/4" bs / 7" rim; This would equate to 4-3/4" bs on an 8" rim.

I had 275's on this car.. They were very tight. They rubbed the inner fenders on corners with more then two people in the car. The wheel lips had been shaved and removed by a previous owner. 4 1/2" backspacing on 8" wheels. Kevin

My 255's have never touched the fenderwells, and go on & off the car easy enough. I suppose every combo is different. Old worn out springs may let the rear end travel laterally???

I have run 10.7 inch section width tires on the back of my 67 Plymouth. There was a good deal of clearance, but I had some rubbing issues, which I later realized my axle end play was WAY off, and I think that had alot to do with it. These were on 15x7 wheels with 4 inch backspacing, another 1/4-1/2 inch backspacing would have been perfect. I do have Super Stock springs though.
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

225 60 15 on 7" wheels with 4" back space on front
245 60 15 on 8" wheels with 5 1/4" backspace..
One side rubbed on the inside fender well ( rear).. I had to put a 1/8" spacer on it.. No problems with front
Rear sway bar REALLY helped, Firm Feel brand.. Stock wheel wells.
