I'm slowly putting together a duster street strip car, I may be able to get a good deal on a built 904 with a transbrake and good clutches etc. How far have you all pushed these units I know my uncle had been high 5s but that was in a chassis car and much lighter then the estimated 3300lbs my car will likely go. Just curious what you've pushed them to this will he a small block turbo car with a low numerical gear (3.23 or 3.55) so maybe it will be easier in drive line parts. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info guys I'm shooting to land in the range you all are at so if its holding there I'm not really scared to try it at all. Either one of you still running a 8.75?

Basically stock 904 with good clutches & bands, RMVB, footbrake, 6000 stall, slicks, 3000 lbs, 600HP was the limit if I didn't do something stupid. Like leaving in 2nd; that would hurt clutches.
At 640HP needed better parts in it, but this one's a CRT and holding up well. 368" SB, just a single carb.

Race ready 2850 #. Yeah its broken some parts. Input and output shafts, sprag, output shaft bushing. I now have billet shafts and use good pieces there. I get ok life on clutches and bands. I'll soon start on a 2.25 1.45 geared 904. I should most likely build a glide but I have quite a few 904 parts. I finally changed the 8 3/4 to a dana.

you know if you go glide I'll give you pennies on the dollar for those 904 pieces! I should go glide too, but keep fumbling along with 727 stuff. I do have a decent 904, but I don't think the converter I have would be up to par for the W8 deal, and I would need yokes and a new driveshaft. The 904 was mated to our high 10 iron head 360.

Ha Ha I'll keep that in mind. I figure I'll spend $3500-$4000 to change to a glide. That's with a Reid case and bell adapter

A friend is doing that right now. I asked him if he hit the $10,000 mark yet and said he recently added it up to only $8800! That's before finding out the new converter won't work with the TCI adapter flexplate, and adding in my labor fees. I took a Bryant hemi crank in partial payment for my efforts. Driveshaft still needed too.

SLOW !!! Thanks for asking. I've been doing nothing but work. Now that school has started I can make some progress. I've been working through crank throw- oil pump clearance issues but maybe I have it solved. I might be ready for assembly mid October. Maybe dyno after that... I hope!
