ProSport, they will get loud pretty quickly as the center blanket will break down & leave the mufflers. With 3" exhaust, it's hard to quiet-down the exhaust without resonators. I build 3" core resonators that are 4" round body, & I use packing that will NOT break down & leave the mufflers. I can also build them in any length. If your 3" system is too loud, consider adding resonators - they will not hurt performance or restrict flow.

Thanks, I'll give you a call when I add some tailpipes and resonators. up

I'm still loving these super turbos but I still want it quieter, gonna add an H-pipe next week.
Who makes the best fitting tailpipes for a '72 Duster with stock gas tank and leaf springs?

Holy crap Bob, are you serious? biggrin

The H pipe will def. help. It even toned down my 4" exhaust w/ 1 chamber race flowmasters a decent amount. Made it sound a lot better/smoother.

Very serious Chip lol. I'm 42 now and my ear drums aren't what they used to be, it's hard to have a conversation in the car right now so I want to tame it down. That's what I LOVE about the electric cutouts, I can be slightly louder if I want or alot louder depending on how far I open them.
I drive this thing almost every day and it's about 600HP.

Many years ago my dad put a Dynomax Super Turbo on, of all things, a Chevy astrovan. Surprsing what people are saying about durability, because it was still going strong after 10 years when we got rid of the van.

Obviously this might now work for all cassis and configurations - but adding a small bullet-type resonator behind the mufflers will change the sound and sound characteristics a bit to the quieter side. I used to do that for some owners who wanted the noise - but didn;t want too loud or droney.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

I've got a pair of 17747 mufflers behind a 496" and full seperate 2.5" system.
Idle was a bit too loud for my taste so I added resonators.
Want to add an X or H as well to tone it down a tad more.

On my daily 318 Dart I'm (was) running dual Super Turbo's.
One of them literally blew apart after and exhaust backfire so I mounted a regular muffler which was slightly larger.
I actually like the tone of the car better now, eventhough I would like to have a bit more grunt at firm accelerations. But that might be an engine thing.

Bob, I had the Dynomax Turbos on my GTX for 13 years. I used them with my 440, then same exact system with the Hemi. I won the Dynomax Challenge with them when they were 10 years old.The factory guys agreed. They were impressed.

LOL, I'll trade you a stock 318 for your 600 hp engine even up. That will completely solve your sound issues.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I wanted to revive this thread to say I installed Sunroofcuda's 12" resonators into my tailpipes today.
When I first started it in the garage I said to myself well that was a waste of money. Took the car out for some driving and am super happy with the results. It isn't alot quieter at idle but it is less offensive. Where it really helped for me was driving around when your just looking to fit in. The sound is toned down a bit but the seat of the pants dyno feels no loss!
With a 512 TTI headers into the 3" x-pipe system with Ultra Flows and only running 3.23 gear the convertor was making it seem so loud to just cruise but now It's lost that loud bark making it so much more pleasant.

You're right that would probably solve the noise issue lol. This mild 500" motor is just unbelievably fun.

Good news, sometimes it doesn't take much to make things alot better. I want to add a crossover pipe and tailpipes over the winter.
