The fastmanefi web site has been updated to include the Holley EFI systems. And now today - this was released from the NHRA:

NHRA announced Aug. 13 the rules and requirements for the 2016 Pro Stock category in their transition to electronic fuel injection (EFI). The sanctioning body has named Holley EFI as the sole provider of the components of the electronic fuel injection system.

All I can say is wow.

Those are going to have to be very expensive systems to make it worth whatever it cost to become the exclusive provider.

I mean - how many systems are they going to be able to sell in the first year?

How many in the following years?

Special box? Maybe... But the current Dominator ECU does everything they need and it allows password protection so others can't steal the program, yet allows access by NHRA officials. The amount of custom I/O that the Dominator allows is more than adequate for Pro-Stock.

just for the pro stock

How many will they sell in the "Pro Stock" configuration?

I am glad some of you guys think you have ALL the answers on how things work and I hate to let FACTS interrupt a good story, but here are a couple.

It "cost" us NOTHING to become the sole provider of EFI components for NHRA Pro-Stock. Holley has a long time association with NHRA from both a sponsor and participation standpoint. The NHRA is already well versed on the Holley EFI, seeing as that is the factory equipped ECU on the COPO Camaro. So we "PAID" nothing.......they simply chose us

There will be no "Pro-Stock ONLY" box. They will use either the HP or Dominator box and it will be the same one anybody else buys off the shelf. If there is anything special required by NHRA in the way of monitoring, that will be a simple software flash.

These days.......everybody thinks there is something behind, everything that happens. Like the whole world is some big conspiracy theory and nothing happens without under the table shady dealings and palm greasing, especially in racing. One needs look no further than ANY discussion on safety gear. All it seems to be is one big conspiracy between the NHRA and safety companies to milk money out of the poor racer..........I get so damn sick of reading that idiotic sh%& it makes my stomach turn. Many are always looking for somebody to blame for something, instead of looking in the mirror and then the whole world becomes a conspiracy to them.

But enough of that............Like I said, we already have a good relationship with NHRA, assured them we had a product that met their qualifications and could supply said product. There was a 3 or 4 man team that met with NHRA brass, I know who they were, when they went and also know they did NOT go with a case full of money.

People think Holley is some big corporate monster or something. We employ less than 400 people all total. Our "EFI Team" if you want to call it that, consists of 4 people at the Holley plant and 3 more at a place we own in Canada where the code is written. That's IT, the whole team. Far from some smothering giant entity

I think I've been around here long enough to have shown that I don't intentionally try to ruffle feathers or create conflict.

I just meant that generally - when I see a "sole provider" - it means that whatever company that is, has to pony up with sponsorship money for the series or agree to terms with the sanctioning body in return for said "sole providership." That generally means it's costing that sole provider some amount of money to be able to SAY they are the sole provider. If that's not the case, then that's even better for Holley.

No conspiracy. Just business.

And again, no feather ruffling intended.

No need for a group hug and my feathers aren't ruffled. But you will notice it only took until the SECOND post in the thread before it was mentioned about "how" the deal was done. Typical these days. I just find it sad to think that so many feel the whole world works that way

I'd say it probably had more to do with Holley's long standing relationship with the NHRA more than anything else. When it comes to fuel systems Holley has been there and done that for decades.

I'm stoked they're going to EFI. I know they'll be something that comes from it that has even eluded the auto manufacturers engineering teams. That many smart guys whittling away looking for single digit power increases will find something.

How about just the fact that it's something new? I can only imagine how creative just the injector placement might get. What will all the new manifolds, and throttle plates look like? (might not get a look at them for a while).

Think of all the great deals they'll be on used PS carbs. I think WJ has a thousand of them lol!

I may be wrong, but I think the self correction abilities within the control units will eventually become almost perfect, and no longer require so much hands on tuning. I also wonder if those self correction parameters will be used by PS.
