Seeing the stamped pentastar is not a sure way to tell if it is a real shaker scoop. Several repros carry the pentastar, part number and vendor number just like originals. The only real way to tell is by defining the composite material it is made of. The repros have not perfected that yet.
TERRY,does it look like a original from the picture?

it looks orig from what i can see check some of the wear iteams like around the 7 holes that bolts bubble down to adapter ring for small cracks and also check and see how well orig air grills fit compared to repops around the boss that hold the air door vent as well it appears to have 4406 bages the way the hole pattern is forward on one side im not the expert so dont go forward on what i say i just speak from mt expierence from repop and orig bubbles as i have both if it dont know have the numbers i would say no scott the man on shakers listen to him

I agree with Scott, it APPEARS to be real. A couple things to consider when visually checking real verses repro. On most repros I have seen, the drain openings on each side seem a little more "puffy" or thicker than on an orignal. As for the emblems, all factory scoops have the 3 prong nameplate holes in the same location, be it 340, 383, 440, or hemi. This one must have the steel hood 440-6 nameplates as evident by the two prongs poking through instead of mandatory 3 prongs for shaker nameplates. Hard to tell but some of the mounting grills/doors harware does not look original, but overall it looks like a real nice unit.

Snoop,
I think what Terry was describing was the fact that all original Shaker emblems had 3 prongs rather than two, so it's apparent that the emblems themselves are reproductions or are missing one pin due to damage. The holes appear correct, but they also appear correct on some of the better reproduction bubbles. One thing I think looks incorrect is the color of the material, originals are not a true white, they have a yellowish cast to them plus it's normally a bit uneven and mottled, it's pretty much impossible to duplicate with paint of any shade. The bubble looks too even so it's likely been completely painted and then over sprayed to make it appear more original, again, hard to say as pictures and lighting can be decieving. As Terry said, if it's a reproduction it's a nicely detailed one, beyond that, can't say from just that pic.
*Pic is an original Paint 71 bubble, a very nice original condition. Good for comparisons

FWIW, it looks original to me. We have an original 70 440-6 in the shop now. The underside of that car's bubble looks like what you have pictured. I've had to re-work way too many reproductions , and none were as defined around the perimeter with centered bolt holes or had the raised bosses centered with the screws. All the repro's I've dealt with had to have the bosses reglassed to shift or raise them in order for the screwed on components to fit decent. And I won't begin to describe the problems with the top sides of the repro's.
