I am going to check my valve lash and I used the SEARCH function and it came up with nothing. I have used the Mopar Performance valve lash chart in the past but I might try it a different way. Does anybody have a link to the thread about this a few months ago?

Don't have the link but here is what I do, as the exhaust is just opening then adjust the intake as the intake has gone to full lift then as it is just starting to close adjust the exhaust, used to do the old direct connection decal way and found the new way is more accurate, hope this helps.

I hate to be rude, really, but every book on auto engines in the last 75 years has the entire process in elaborate detail. This includes every factory service manual regardless of brand. A OHV 4-stroke engine is an OHV 4-stroke engine. A 50cc Honda OHV generator engine is adjusted exactly the same as a 900" pro mod engine: both valves are always, and only, closed at TDC on the compression stroke.
All of the "methods" merely attempt to perform exactly the same functions with as few engine rotations as possible.

I have read several and they differ , One says when the exhaust valve just begins to open stop and adjust the intake. One says when exhaust starts to open let it open half way then adjust the intake. One says turn engine over until intake valve fully opens then starts to close approximately 1/2 set the exhaust. one says approximately 2/3 set the exhaust. One says almost closed set the exhaust. I was just wondering which one is correct.

Just remember start with 2 int and 8 exhaust, and move through the firing order intakes and exhaust in succession same as chart, two valves at a time every 90 degrees. The order is intakes 84365721 exhausts 21843657 I forgot to mention start on #1 tdc compression.

Well i adjusted them last night. I went by these directions. Rotate engine until exhaust valve starts to open then set the intake.(But I kept opening the exhaust valve until the gap stopped getting bigger which was just past half way. Then I set the intake). It said rotate the engine until the intake valve was fully open then starts to close then set the intake. (I kept checking the lash while rotating the engine and the gap was getting bigger until about 1/4 before closed. Then I set it). I just kept checking the lash while I was rotating the engine and this what I ended up with. Maybe that will work.

That sounds like what I ended up doing, used EOIC but set lash when the other valve had the biggest effect on the valve I was setting (effect was on the shaft essentially). Did you rotate the engine manually? Sounds like it; hard to be so precise bumping it with a bump-start switch. Also, if you have the cam card, did you go tighter, looser or to spec when you set the lash?

Also, if you have the cam card, did you go tighter, looser or to spec when you set the lash? I set them cold 6 tighter. I have not done that before and I am going to drive it and check it hot to see if they are close to the original lash specs. And I did rotate by hand.

I rotated slowly by hand with a long bar, as my springs are over 1000pounds at full lift, and checked lash both when the valve opened and closed. Ser my lash 8 tighter could for first start up, just to be on the safe side with 025 lash hot. I would rather be 2 on the tight side than hammering the lifters with to much play.
If you read my thread, the EOIC was not where the biggest lash was. Check your other post for my take on setting valve lash.
