AK_JH27 OP member A Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 134 Anchorage,AK	I bought this charger with a 440 from a guy who said that it ran when it was parked, that was 15 years ago. I got the car home and was going to try to start it but i all I get is a "clink" How do I test the starter? without taking it out

RapidRobert Circle Track R Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 36,040 Lincoln Nebraska	Assuming that your batt is good & cables are clean(continuity) then with a screwdriver jump across the 2 terminals on the starter being carefull not to touch the case with the screwdriver live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

stumpy I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 32,930 Grand Prairie,Texas	If the battery is fully charged and the cables are clean then you can short across the two starter terminals. Be sure to try turning the motor over with a breaker bar on the crank bolt before replacing the starter. Robert you sure are rapid. Last edited by stumpy; 01/08/09 06:15 PM.

AK_JH27 OP member A Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 134 Anchorage,AK	I did that, the motor turns over, I then tired jumping the solnoid: the battery (B) lug to the wire below it (the other exposed wire) and got nothing. any thing else i can try.
