Have a guy coming to look at the race car tomorrow. So I thought it would be a good idea to start it up. Has been started since late April. Well fuel pressure came up ok. cranked it over and it hit once and that was it. Crank no start. So I pulled a plug. Fuel soaked checked for fire. Got fire. Turned the FP back on and I have fuel running out the transition slots on the primary side. Is this a needle and seat problem or should I be looking for something else. In the past I have had a problem with the o-rings on the needle and seat. But in those instances it would push fuel out the vent tubes. Thanks in advance for your input. Jim

Most likely a flooding problem. Might be a bad float or a stuck needle. Should be able to fix it in a few minutes by pulling the bowls. Holley type carb I assume?

Quick little possible fix.... Just try a couple of good firm raps on the top of the bowls with an end wrench. Often times the floats/ seats get hung up from fuel sitting in them.
10 second check and good chance you will get lucky.

Andy that is what I suspected, NS. Don I tried that one too. I think the fuel has worked on the NS o-ring.

Rubber metering block gaskets, when not sealing properly often had raw fuel running out the transition slots with no other signs of N&S problems. Only worked well on machined main body surfaces.

i have had issues with some fuels gumming the needle and seat if the engine hasn't been run on a regular basis.

Well I am going to post what I found so others might learn. 1. It's terrible getting old sometimes. 2. The dog at my homework. 3. I guess I forget things now. 4. There was no gasket between the metering block and the main body. 5. And I had it off twice before I figured it out. At least I am still able to figure it out. It's running all is well and life is good. Where is that smiley face. Jim

Interesting that you had fuel coming out the transition slots and not everywhere else. Must of sealed up well enough to keep fuel from dripping all the time.
