Anyone know where they can be bought?

Here is a picture of the ones on my T/A. Nothing special....if I remember correctly they are stainless steel.

Are the pins supposed to go in from side to side like that or front to back??

Side to side for Fiberglass and Front to back for metal hoods.

Challengers go from side to side and Cudas go from front to rear. The reason (I believe) is the Challengers hood slopes far more that the Cudas. If you put the hood pin front to rear on a Challenger the pin only holds the hood down on one side of the pin.

If you look at the picture that I posted earlier.....that is a untouched T/A hood and you can see the scuff marks that is left from the pin digging into the base.

Is this for both fiberglass and steel hoods? Previous reply advised there was a difference between hood material.

i got my aar in 86. at that time the car was not touched as you could easily see by the primer used to cover the rust and the worn off paint on the hood. the marks on the hood pin plates went side to side

maybe this is just one of those, "what did the guy on the line do" situations but I know on my car, my pins were side to side and thats the way I put them back on.

I even questioned it when I later saw some pins going front to back and that was when I was told that the hood material was the deciding factor.

That is the fun thing about Mopars......you can never say "never" or "always"!!

Here are two pictures that I just have. The orange AAR is a 17K survivor that is very original when it cam to the body. These pins went front to rear....

They were all supposed to be installed front to rear on these cars originally.

As noted above, there are exceptions.

Which way diagonally? From the outer corner facing towards the windshield? Or from the center of the grill facing towards the outside center of the fender? Is there an actual angle that can be laid out with a protractor or something?

on my cuda, I mounted the pins and routed the cables thru the way the manual states and u cannot place the pins sideways...the 23" cable won't do...mine was always forward and back anyways...and sideways don't look right

Back to the original question.

Where can you get the rivets or are they anything special?

Are they 5/16"?
How long?
Also since I am high jacking my rivit gun works great but cuts the post off to where it can be seen in the center od the rivit once it is done? Thoughts?
I used stainless pan head philips screws last time due to that, since the Rivits looked bad
