Looking at this pressure plate it does not look like there is much room for the fingers to push in to release the pressure plate. Does this look ok to you guys?

Hard to tell from the pics, but is the clutch disc installed the correct way?

Looks like the disc is TOO thick. Miss/matched parts.????
Adjustable clutches use shims under the PP to set pressure range/height,but that isn`t adjustable???

Height doesn't look right. Height from flywheel surface to clutch finger height should be roughly 2". I haven't used Mcleod clutches before, but I have always adjusted Ram B&B plates to the proper height with the 3 clutch finger nuts. Most of the time, they come preset slightly low, too. They are staked, but can be adjusted and restaked or loctited in place. I would probably pull the bellhousing off and look through the sides of the P/P opennings to verify that the disc is flat and installed right side up. Disc should only be around .350" thick or less and sitting flat. If you see an air gap, it is installed upside down.

I took it apart and the clutch disc is in right. Maybe its not the right one, but it defiantly was in right. I had a used PP and disc from another project and bolted it up. It did the same thing. When I torque down the PP housing the PP face comes in and the finger move in like it is being depressed. There is about 1/2" space behind the finger to the clutch disc when it is installed. I just don't think it is right but not sure what to do? But just to verify, the protruding side faces the transmission right? The flywheel side is flat all the way across.

Yes, you have it installed right. Bolt the clutch setup to the flywheel. Use a vernier caliper set to 2" and drop the depth pin onto the flywheel surface. Adjust the fingers to the base of the caliper. Restake the adjuster nuts with a center punch. Put your bellhousing back on and you should be good to go.

So it is a common thing to have to adjust the fingers on a new PP? I don't mean to direct anger to you guys, just PO'ed that I would have to do that, assuming I can..

Check how thick your disc is. The thicker the disc, the lower the fingers will end up. Chrysler standard thickness is .310" A dual friction or metallic disc might be made thicker. I couldn't tell you what McLeod does. But I always check and adjust my Ram clutches before final install.

I've seen clutches that had the spring mounting plates mounted to te crank side, not the tranny side Call the clutch company with your part numbers and ask them which way to face the disc Most clucth disc will have a small decal with flywheel side named on it, normally the flat side, sometimes not Does the clutch disc hang over the pressure plate, wider on the lining than the plate size? If so that is your problem
