Hello, so new 544 stroker motor and CRT trans. John built for the motor with RMVB,car is ready to be out driving, abusing, can some folks school me on do's don'ts with this set-up? by that I'm meaning I have not driven a RMVB before, so shifting as a standard by rpm's, and downshifting when coming to a stop seems the way, what about burn-outs, start in 1st or 2nd from a stop? can you downshift to second when getting on highway or when cruising at 30 then punch it? appreciate the any schooling and do's and don'ts. and THANKS to a lot of the members here for helping me get to this point.

thank you, so just punch in second or third, downshifting from third to second and punching would give the "rolling burn-out"? downshifting if normal driving and coming to a stop needed? or leave in 3 then shift to first when stopped? just trying to get how it works, for both driving hard and if just cruising. scene 1- driving 30 mph coming to a red light, am I downshifting before I get to the stop, green 1st ect.? scene 2- cruising and another car is trying to pass, shift into second punch it back to 3 leaving them in the dust? sorry to ask such questions which are probably known to most in the race section, but it is less embarrassing on the computer then on the street

Yeah that VB should have LBA so it will decell with the engine.. think of it as driving a stick but without a clutch... any gear your in is what your in... with that much engine you might not use 1st much.... if your gonna street drive it.... I started my burnouts in high gear.. you have to get on the throttle pretty good but you can start in 2nd if you want also EDIT Remember that it wont up shift so you have to do it(same on the down shift)

I hardly ever use first when I am street driving. I can smoke the tires starting off in third. You have alot more motor than I do. There is no reason to down shift until after you stop.
1.33 60 ft,6.21 at 110.59 in the 1/8, pump gas small block,2950lbs,drag radials,mufflers and driven to track ...

you could bang n to roll to a stop and put it in low to pull out If you try to put in neutral from 3rd or 2nd gear it has to go through 1st, which engages it for a split second, hence the teeth marks in the steering wheel comment Been there done that, I switched back to a non LBA valve body afer experiencing that at the races My spare tranny had been freshen by one of the better race tranny company in SO CA and they had not warned me about them swapping out my T/A RMVB for a LBA RVMB That was in my 1963 Plymouth M.W. stocker with the original pushbutton shifter, I would punch neutral after the finish line and it would grab 1st gear for a nanno second long enough to make me notice it was different than before, NOT GOOD
