One reason for my header fiasco is the Proparts don't clear the torsion bars on the pass side and I had to pretty severely dent one tube to get them in. I need new shocks anyways so I think I am going to put coil overs on in front. How do most guys do this?

You have to:

Change the top mount so a regular shock can be used.
Reinforce the shock tower.

One way is to use a Hemi Denny (HDK) shock tower reinforcement. My snout bar rides in he exact space that HDK uses for his support brace. I could just get the stuff behind their U tube brace and weld it to the snout bar.

How have you guys done this. I have the original inner fender and I do not think they tied the snout bar to the inner fender when Bevis built the car back in the day.

Installed it looks like this:

im in process of doing this now on my valiant. i cant find a shock that "fits" the way i wanyt it to, so i am going through the inner fender up to the snout bar to gain more travel and get a taller shock.

Magnumforce has these but you still have to reinforce the shock tower.

Just getting the shock on there is not a big deal. The BIG deal is doing something to support the back side of the lower control arm after the torsion bar is gone. If you are handy, you can fab something up....but by FAR the better AND easier thing to do is just install a whole front suspension kit from Hemi Denny or the Alterktion from RMS

Be sure and check for turning radius at the inside of the wheel wells. I put 18 x 8.5 rims on the front of my street dart with 245x45x18 tires, and I have virtually zero clearance if I want full turning radius. Your results may vary. My solution to keep most of that radius was to go to a 5/8 bolt on the upper shock mount, through a custom made bracket that bolts up to the stock shock location. For added support I welded 1/4 thick plates to the frame rails that go up to that 6 inch x 5/8 bolt and use short spacers to stabilize the whole thing. Kind of crude, but it works.
