They don't have a very good survival rate. I go through them a bunch.

since i don't participate in auto cross events, my thoughts wonder as to why these brackets are getting torn up ? surely there are no "duke boys" stunts involved ? is it going off track and the ensuing results of doing so that causes this ? please forgive my ignorance in asking this question, but i love learning about suspension issues.

Bent because they aren't formed good. Flat metal doesn't like side load, and so bends. The straps need to be u-shaped, and a little thicker material. At the very lest about 1/2" thick if left flat. Those things look so weak it is totally pitiful.

No, they bend because we crash them into stuff smile
Usually while parking nose-in.

ok, i understand now. i was hoping there were no stunts involved. what would happen if one were to weld on reinforcement straps from where the mounting bolts are to the tops close to the zerks, forming a triangle ? possibly boxing the sides as well to really stiffen things up ? or would this just lend itself to sheared mounting bolts ?

Well, if it's from hitting curbs while parking, then the bolts might be what will break next.

They hang low, life on the streets is tough lol. I did this leaving a gas station where they paved new asphalt, about 3" too high, along water runoff for the gutters. I even went super slow and tried to crab walk it at an angle. It stopped be dead, these brackets are NOT weak at all, and I don't think I could straighten it without making it worse.

So I have the Wilwoods up front now on the 11.75 Córdoba rotors, but I really haven't spent time testing them prior to last Sunday's race. I also put the Hellwig helper springs on the rear leafs to see what they did. The springs actually did help I think, the Valiant felt like it rolled less, and just felt nicely balanced, even on the old Hankooks. Unfortunately I was way off my game today, never attacked the brakes or the course. My 7 straight SCCA Qualcom win streak ended, and my co-driver beat me in my own car.... frown

What I like is that this Valiant is consistent with more than one driver, which tells me the success isn't due to the driver alone. Nice job on the Plymouth and the driving.

Thanks guys. The Valiant is handling nicely, but I'm going to keep pushing to find ways to get it to he next level. Scored this set of Rotiform Forged 18x10.5 wheels off Craigslist for $400, because one had a small crack at the bead and one had a small dent. They weigh 20 lbs, which is 7 lbs less than my current front wheel, and 9 lbs less than each of my rears...

And here are the wheels on the infamous purple Valiant! I already kind of liked it when Tom first pulled in, but the more and more I see it, the more and more I like it even though it doesn't have the "deep dish" look. up

Thanks Samy, had the wheels refinished and repaired for $260, so for a grand total of $660, I'm going to try and figure out a way to mount 315/30/18 on all four corners...

Hotchkis posted results. Of course I did the worst for the compact car. They also didn't note all of my DNF's for spinning out on the course. I'm pretty sure I made it out of the lines at least 2 of the 3 times. Lol.

Can you post them here Samy.... Valiant had the new 315s on the rear, but ran the 275 RE71R Bridgestones up front cause I haven't figured out how I'm getting the 315s in there yet. Car felt great all day!
