My pump in the tank died. Is there a high perf replacement for it? I wanted to add a holley blue pump before the intank died but now what to do? Replace the intank and then add a blue? I run a chip and need the extra fuel delivery.

What year truck? and what mods? What have you done to diag this?

I've got an edge with a juice monitor. Fuel pressure lately was bouncing back and forth from 8 psi and up to 3 psi at times. Today it worked good, shut it off for a couple of hours and went to start it, went up to 3 and ran bad for 5 seconds, now it has 0 psi. and will not run or try to start.

You may have line that are bad and you are sucking air.

As far as lift pumps go my stock carter went 104,000 and I put a replacement carter back on.I watched my old pump slowly die. I had the replacement for about 3 years sitting in the truck just in case. It was a cummins campaign pump that my buddy who runs a big truck shop got for me for less than 70 bucks. I now have an airtex for a spare and that set me back 119.00. I dont fall into these big dick pumps in the 4 to 6 hundred dollar range. They have their failure rates to. Dont buy into all this VP44 and lift pump Myths and mis-information.

Its an 01 which I believe has an in tank lift pump.
What I would like to do, if I can, is to remove the in tank pump, replace with a fuel line and just install a blue or black pump on the frame.

Its stock so I am wrong about the pump it looks. I can not hear the pump anymore as I used to hear it before it quit yesterday. I will look for where the pump is. Why will the holley pumps not work well? I have googled this and have found a few posts mentioning this as an economical and long lasting patch for the lift pump problem. $600 for the other listed pumps above seems like alot if the holley works.
BTW no codes have shown up...
PS 5th gear went last week and over the last month, the steering on the beast went to Wandering all over the place. All at once! Looks like i will be a couple grand soon.
