I'm getting ready to fire up my 383 that I put the first external oiling system on that I have ever had.

I got to noticing that the 12AN line is dangerously close to the header. I have my doubts on how long it will last. Maybe not long at all.

How are you all routing your lines?
Could I use reducers somehow and make it live? That would cut flow some for sure but this system is really overkill by far for what I have currently. It is really a trial run before I put a more serious engine in.

Dual line on the Hemi. I try to route them as close to the block as I can, keeps them away from the headers.

Dont have any pictures of either of the B1's handy.

I guess I should add that this is a 69 RR, 383 with 1 7/8s hooker headers, single line milodon system.

I had a time getting the line to fit at all.

don't even think about reducers. you might as well be using the stock internal oiling system if you do.

How do I get this to fit?

I might as well have stock on there if the header burns the line.

Looks like you'll have to reconfigure those lines off the pickup , i see the logic regards drainback , but you'll have to reroute them down lower.

I used the Milodon single line static setup on my Hemi in my 70 Cuda. I couldn't get the line to work with my Hooker headers I was using. We have a shop here in town that makes pressure hoses for all kind of applications. I had them make me a longer lines with high pressure fittings and run the line towards the from and around the K member. It was alot higher then the oil pan and worked fine I think it cost around $40 for the new line. It was also a stainless braided line just not as flexible as the one that came with the kit.

You just have to work around the obstacles. I usually run a motor plate so that makes the hose routing a little easier. Here is an example.

I noticed that the dual line setups use the rear port off the pump cover.

Can I use that for the single line setup? I think it will clear by a mile if I can come straight off that port.

I'm not sure why I have it ran to the side port as I put that on over a year ago and had to stop the project. I have a feeling that there is a reason why that one was used.

I have used both the back and the fitting on the top for single lines systems depending on the motors used in different chassis, B-RB in A bodys and B-RB and 426 Hemi in B and E bodys Both work fine, I like to use the rear one if I can due to not making the oil go around a 90 degree turn in the cover to get into the pump

the right fittings will get the line away from the headers.

Hookers. They were on a RB. Not sure if they were tall deck specific. Had to work one pipe heavily to clear the mini starter.

I'm curious about the teflon in the line comment. I need to remember what brand it was and look it up. remember the fittings being na red package.

Looks like the rear port is OK to use, that should work OK. Just need a new fitting to make it happen.

I notice i half the setups pictured the lines come out of the pump & imediately turn downward, while thats great for clearance I've always heard running a short upward loop in the suction lines helped prevent the external line system lose it's prime...

I don't have any pictures of mine, but I actually had to plumb into the passenger side of the pan, (Moroso b-Body pan w/ deep center sump), and looped it around the the front of sump in pan, it is just under the k-member for about 2 inches, no issues so far, been like that for 2 seasons. good Luck, Curtis

I got sick so I missed my chance to get much done. My window of oportunity is closing for the moment. Hopefully can at least do some more figuring on the routing and get the stuff ordered for the next good chance.

Looking at the Smmit catalog, I would say that I used Aeroquip stuff. It doesn't say it is teflon so I'm guessing that it isn't as that would seem to be a selling point.
