I am thinking about adding a blow proof housing as I swap in a 426 hemi into my Road Runner. Any recommendations? I am running a McLeod dual disc clutch set up with 130 tooth flywheel with Hemi fourspeed. I also plan on using TTI headers. I know Lakewood makes one. Is there a particular model or part number I need? I have read on posts here before about having to grind on flange to clear clutch linkage. Any other pitfalls I may run into? Thanks.

I had to cut about 3/4" off the Z-bar width to get a Lakewood installed in a 70 gTx. Other than that and grinding the tunnel lip it was pretty straight-forward.
The things weigh a ton and if you dial it in you'll probably be installing it more than once. So, do some push ups to get ready (or do what I did and use a transmission jack to do the lifting).

Looks like the Lakewood unit, PN 15330 is just about impossible to get. The 15335 is available, but the center bore for transmission is 5.125" diameter versus my 4.80" diameter bearing retainer. I am not sure if anyone makes an adapter ring. The Quick Time unit looks like it has an adapter ring. I had planned on using stock z-bar and linkage. Maybe I will use stock factory bell housing until I can sort this out.

My Lakewood came with the adapter ring. If you order one and don't get it, I'll send you the one I've got.

Back when I started racing I seen a chevy car blow a pressure plate , it came up through the floor boards then continued up and out in front of the wind shield. Basically totaling the car. Also while all that was happening the floor board metal was rapped around the drivers foot breaking it and secured him in the car. That made a pretty good impression on me at the time and ordered a lakewood as soon as I got home. Back then I still ran a stock flywheel and clutch assembly but felt secure knowing that everything would be retained in the Lakewood if something did let go. Dialing in the bell housing is just something you have to do on any aftermarket piece. If your just going to street drive just use what you have , if your going to do any high RPM shifting , do yourself and others a favor, buy a blow proof bell housing.

Quicktime makes a nice piece. My son is using one right now. In the past he actually had a Mcleod twin in the car. He did have to do some dialing in, but that's recommended with any, factory or after market bellhousing.

The 335 comes with that adaptor ring to run the 4.80. If you're running an early tranny with the 4.35 retainer you will need the adaptor ring for that as well. I countersunk the 4.35 ring into the 4.80 ring so it all goes together right for my '67 tranny.

So the original poster is going to drop in a Hemi and use that piece of crap OD transmission. They wouldn't hold the torque of a 318 . Didn't they have a aluminum case with a small output shaft? I think I have one with the main shaft twisted off.

If you are running a 130 tooth wheel the Quicktime is the one to use. From everyone I talked to be prepared to do some custom fabrication on your clutch linkage
