Help set up my fuel system

Need to upgrade my fuel system on my street/strip Satellite. It's adequate for street use but has started to run out of fuel at the top of third when I've gotten on it on a hill (highway onramp). Right now the engine is in the 525 HP neighborhood, car should run mid 11s but hasn't been down the strip yet as I'm still sorting it out. Plans in the near future are for headwork and 600-650 HP. I'm thinking 1/2 inch pickup and fuel line up to the mechanical pump, with one Holley black pump. 9/16 line from the pump to carb with a dead head fuel pressure regulator. Does this sound sufficient? I would think that this should be more than enough but I really don't know.

I went with 1/2" stainless tubing from tank to frame rail by pump, -8 hose from tubing to pump then back to the tubing from pump to regulator, 3/8" tubing from regulator to each carb on a 572 hemi. Tim

Sorry Mr P - I meant 3/8 I just doubled it when I typed it up.
Is there a reason I couldn't run the black full time?
You would be getting marginal with 3/8.. I would
run 1/2 just in case... you can run the pump all
the time

I use to use a Holley blue 110 GPH electric pump between the tank and the Carter 3 valve NASCAR mechanical fuel pump on the motor without a regulator on my old NHRA 426 C.I. Max Wedge Stocker. The mechanical fuel pump will and does act as a pressure regulator   My message is don't waste your time and money on a regulator now before trying that electric pump working in series with your mechanical pump  A 1/2 inch O.D., 7/16 I.D. line, is fine as far as I've used for motors up to 700+ HP My new drag car will have a 5/8 O.D., #10 AN size, hardline from the pump to the pressure reg. mounted up front in front of the carb. due to shooting for 850 +HP carbureted now with EFI in the potential future for more power with a power adder later. I'll use #12 AN from the tank to the 500 GPH electric pump to start with, over build it once instead of doing it twice BTW, how many GPH is that Holley black pump rated at

I like the KISS method.... I ran 1/2 line up to the passenger fender to the regulator then used two 3/8 lines from there to the carb. I used the Holley Blue pump with regulator. Works fine on my car. No pressure problems. My motor is over 650hp. I run it on the track and street with no issues.

Thanks for the info guys.
Heres another question, looks like the Holley Black uses 3/8 NPT input and output. I can't find a flare nut for 3/8 NPT for 1/2 inch line anywhere, what gives?
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat

Put a adapter from 3/8 to 1/2.... also I like to drill
out the adapters to get a bit more flow

Will a mechanical pump draw through an electric pump when on the street just driving around? I wouldn't mind having an electric pump at hand for race duty, but it would be nice to be able to drive around town on just the mechanical pump.
(sorry for the hi-jack)
My buddy does it on his 460.. mech pump with a holley
blue in the rear... so yeah I guess it works..he
has been doing it about 6 years now... he runs 11.50
on motor and 10.80 on a little spray

.....I would go with -8 minimum from the tank to pump and from pump to regulator (skip the mechanical pump), and -6 from regulator to carb. Just my
