Cab how do you determine a big bore case or a standard case ??
The case measurement from main case end to end is 15" and 19.80 total length. It does have the strips on the rotors so would having those cause higher temps also ??

Thanks, David

I can't tell you how to determine if it is a big bore or small bore case sorry. That one was a BDS and it had a serial number on it so I called BDS with that number and they told me it was a small bore case Strips can cause heat inside, I've melted one(strip) on a SB Chevy on the dyno several years back

It is the rotor dia that makes it a big/small bore. You can measure it at the top opening. I can't remember the thickness.

its 5.8 versus 5.525 diameter on the case openings for the rotors. Easy way to tell is if the case looks more like an hourglass its a big case, whereas the small case looks like a more open chamber. Hope that helps

I bought a 6-71 setup that was on a 440, and was going to build a wedge, but found a 426 block, new iron MP heads, stock bore, aftermarket crank that's stock stroke. Have a set of Arias pistons. I have aluminum rods, but no idea how many runs on them. Looking at some steel rods now. No one has mentioned the aluminum rods OP is planning to use also. Would like to hear some opinions.

I am only looking for up to 700HP, max 1:1 on the blower. Strictly a street setup.

Just curious, but why limit yourself to 1:1? I ran 11% over crank speed on the street, which equated to about 11 lbs. of boost, no problems.

Just don't want heat to become an issue with the 6-71

I believe the holes in the sides of those pistons are for Nylon buttons. Not that anyone asked.

Yes, those are nylon buttons, they look like holes in that pic.

The reason I am using the aluminum rods is I have them, they have a lot of use left in them yet and I don't think eagle rods are adequate
for this combo.
There are no rods in between the quality/price range of eagle rods and the expensive GRP or other high quality expensive steel rods that I know of for a build like this. Is there any rods out there that I am not thinking of that fit in between these other 2 ??
I may want to get stupid a time or 2 and want good parts that will hold up to 850 or so HP.
I will order/get some Good pistons since I don't have any for a hemi.

I had a friend with a 355 chevy, iron heads, 671 blower, and 2 carbs make 830 HP. He then bought an injection hat for the engine but never redynoed it. It was a LOT more responsive, better 60', and faster ET so it was making more HP after the swap.
I have run aluminum rods in 2 different engines and I like them.
I don't put a lot of passes or miles on my stuff either.
David
