Another forum member had posted this car in the eBay/Craigslist/WIW section, while it was on craigslist for sale in VA.

I still don't know why but I just had to contact the seller and we talked at length. Nice guy, took great pains to describe some details about the car but was unsure on other details when I asked about them.
Net was he was asking $1200 for it as a roller, with title. Settled on $850 with transmission, drive shaft, radiator, engine mounts, etc.

I figured it worth the gamble. Wasn't till late in the conversation I found out it was a 9 passenger. He sent a few more photos at my request.

Pickup was delayed because he had to remove the engine yet and wasn't able to get to it before the Holidays. Not an issue with me. When it was picked up, the hauler called to tell me the gas tank was leaking badly (sent photos to show) and couldn't be hauled in that condition. He offered two alternatives: return to seller, or remove and drain gas tank and place inside of car for transport. Either option cost $150.

I asked the hauler to take care of the gas tank, and got the seller to split the cost with me.

The car arrived this week. Very cold outside and windy, so it was miserable unloading the darn thing. Fortunately the driver was a great guy and easy to work with.

The first thing I did when the truck arrived was get under the car to see how the frame rails, etc looked. I was relieved to see they were all solid.

Seller had taken some care to pack things in the back of the car for safe transport. Had thrown in a service manual and new battery tray.

The bad news was the passenger side rear quarter appears to have a fair amount of bondo in it. In retrospect, the photos sent did not really show this portion of the body, although I'm not sure it was intentional.
I think the seller was something of a novice to the hobby. Comments made by the hauler seemed to support that conclusion.

Once on the ground, I was able to lift the hood and determine the engine compartment was pretty well untouched. Didn't appear the seller had cut and ripped things apart to remove the engine.

Good news here was the original photos made the dent in the drivers door and the one in the front fender look quite bad. I'd been thinking the fender may need to be replaced. Seeing it in person, both dents are very fixable.

There's some rust at the end of the driver's drip rail, which I wasn't too happy to see as I'd made it a point to ask about that, and the condition of the metal around the rear window opening. The tail gate is in the condition I expected. Underside of hood is solid and all the doors look to be pretty clean.

I was relieved to see the gas tank is fine. The fuel leak was from the rubber seal around the filler neck deteriorating, so I don't have buy another gas tank.

In summary, not too bad. Could have been better, but sure could have been worse. Still looks neat sitting there!

Thanks for the comments! Plans? Heck who needs plans- I just acquire it seems. I've a soft spot for wagons.

I've a good 318 on a stand and was going to throw that in and get it running right away. Then started thinking about a fresh 361 I've got, which turned into a low mileage 413 I have from an RV. I'm still trying to decide which way to go. Was out in the pole barn this past weekend sizing components up. Keep coming back to the 361 and just making it a cruiser. I picked up the engine from a guy who'd retired a while back. Not a lot of call for them, but they're smooth running engines.

No Sherlock! I was just bustin on him for growling about the price for a wagon in pretty dang good shape. I'll try to pick better smilies next time to indicate the sarcasm better.

From one wagoon to another, congratulations on the purchase!

I have two 69 B-Body wagons.

The first is my cruiser, a 1969 Plymouth Satellite 6 passenger 318/904 car from VA that I drove up to MA in May of 2014.

Here she is a few days after driving up:

And as of October, 2014:

I have done a ton of work to the car and am currently having the tailgate rust repaired due to a lack of time to do my own work. Before it comes out for the 2015 season it will be getting a front disc swap, new front and rear sway bars, and with any luck, rebuilt front suspension components.

I did a lot of gas-tank related work to the car and can tell you with certainty the following things:
1) The gas tank is identical to the 66-67 B-Bodies. 2) The tank filler tube seal that Rick Ehrenberg sells on E-Bay will work on the tank, even though the parts catalog (and hence E-Booger himself) say otherwise.

I also have the first wagon I bought in 2013, a 1969 Coronet Deluxe 6 passenger 318/904 basketcase, which I just had to save from the scrapyard.

Now it's basically a parts car due to extensive rot of all kinds, but I still like looking at it!

I have learned a ton about these B-Body wagons and what is really unique on them and what is not (but people just think is unique...), so I'll be following along, hopefully helping when I can!
Feel free to PM me if you think I can help with something!

Thanks so much for the great photos and the info. I too have a 69 Satellite wagon. Roller just like the Coronet. Satellite came from Southern CA a few years back. Very tired looking, but spotless floors and frame rails, other than 1" of sand inside of each.

I'm going to eBay next to get that filler neck seal. Great tip.

Thanks again. I will likely bug you down the road for other info.

That sounds like a good "plan". Or non-plan! I would make a cruiser out of it, as well. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with it. I have been looking for a wagon for a while. Not very hard, though. Lol.

Great info about the gas tanks, what's the item number for the filler tube seal on Ebay, I can't find it. I'm doing a 70 Belvedere wagon 5.7 hemi on ride-tech suspension

I had to do some eBay searching to come up with it too. seller id is rehenberg.

He's got it described as Mopar Fuel/Gas tank leak seal kit. As was pointed out, the listing doesn't include wagons, but the seals are the same.

I ordered one for mine and it came fast and looks like it will work fine. Good part about this kit is it includes the one for the sending unit as well, which I hadn't even thought of.

Good luck with the wagon!
