Hi Guys,

I found a aftermarket block that had a hair 3" line crack repaired. The crank was in the timing chain area from #1 cam journal down toward the oil pump. the crack wasn't all the way through the block.

I can pick it up cheap... What do you guys think?
It will end up being the home for a 572 race motor.

Thanks

Mike

if a cam goes in it and turns freely, on my budget I would give it a shot. Do you think a gear drive caused it or ??????? Who did the repair? Birdtracker

How was it repaired, welded, brazed or stitch lock repair? Also which block, Mopar, World, Indy or Koleno ?

thanks for the replies.

the block is a Mopar block. It looks like it was welded. I took the
to my motor guy today. He thinks the damage was done from a gear drive. The good news is,he thinks the block is very useable.

thanks and Happy New year!

Rock on! I know the gear drives are suppose to have side clearance. They recommend a piece of newspaper. If it didn't have any I could see it cracking the block. Birdtracker
