Have any of you guy's bought one lately,,,,,, I just ordered one for my freshen up and ordered the #9440 but what I GOT was the #9383, so I called and was told that is the only seal they offer now, it looks and feels like the old mopar black rear seal, I had exceptional good luck with the last seal I bought from them in regards to oil leaks, never had a drop by the seal, and now they have gone and changed it WTF,,,,,,,,,, why mess something up that works, the old seal was the orange double lipped deal and sealed up really nice in opinion,,,,,,,,, so I guess it's back to the fel pro seal for me,,,,,,,, just wondering what the deal is ????????????????
Thanks Dave

I'll tell you EXACTLY what's going on
Yes, that's the ONLY seal we offer for the B and RB engines now.
Why? Because the largest and Best 2 piece O.E.M. seal manufacturer in the World stopped manufacturing ALL of their 2 piece rear main seals. Don't matter if it was for a Chevy, Ford, Cadillac, AMC or Mopar, they dropped their WHOLE line Cold Turkey, without warning!
The orange colored Viton was not a double lip, just a single and does nothing for sealing as it's only a contaminant (dust & dirt) exclusion lip.
The black seal you have is made from a Polyacrylate rubber. This seal is made in the Exact same mold as the Viton seal and is more than adequate to seal up your motor for the amount of time it's going to be together.
Am I happy about the discontinuation of these parts? Absolutely Not! I've personally sold MILLIONS of them.
Once the black Polyacrylate seals are gone from our inventory, they are gone for good. The previous time they stopped production I bought 10's of thousands of dollars worth of product. Anything I could get my hands on..... this time, not that lucky. I only ended up with 2,000 of them for the 273-340's and could off every single one of them tomorrow if I wanted.
There have been so many changes in the automotive industry the past 10 years it's almost worthy of a stroke. Most have no idea just how deep the root is that's been pulled out
So in closing if you are not happy with the seal you have now, return it and go buy the one in the Blue package.

Guilty party. I have to change the seal to the new part number on our website. I have used both the orange and the new black seals with great results. I have a box of the Mopar seals that I will give away free of charge to anyone who wants to pay the shipping. I have tried the new 1 piece seals and so far so good. These are not cheap and would also work well with a vaccuum pump. The guy that makes them works just up the road and he works with those Prostock guys that shall not be named in Mooresville NC Todd

The Mancini Superformance #9383 works. Noticed rear leak on Duster the last race and it got really bad with dinner plate sized puddle on the trailer floor from starting motor to put the car in garage. I knew this was coming as I had ordered the Kit at the end of the season and am now getting ready for New Years Day Opener. So I installed the Superformance Kit from underneath (yep, as much fun as you can imagine) and crossed my fingers. No 130 mph runs yet but 1st impressions are promising. Survived extended idle and two 5200 rpm Tbrake stalls. Clean and dry. When it stops raining for Testing or New Years Day I'll confirm it holds up under race conditions. For the moment the vibe is good.
Thanks for the purchase
I don't fore-see you having any issues. When there is an issue it rears it's ugly head almost immediately.

For all those who are running the Superformance products Viton rear seals. If you were not experiencing any leak issues the seal can be re-used if carefully removed and cleaned with soap and water. Of course a good visual inspection is in order.
I've re-used the one in my motor 3 times
I'll reserve comment on the one piece Viton seals that you have to make your own cut with a razor blade to install until I have one in my hands..... and I will not pay $80.00 for it
