Superformance rear main seal??????????? - 12/17/14 01:01 AM
Have any of you guy's bought one lately,,,,,,
I just ordered one for my freshen up and ordered
the #9440 but what I GOT was the #9383, so I called
and was told that is the only seal they offer now, it
looks and feels like the old mopar black rear seal,
I had exceptional good luck with the last seal I
bought from them in regards to oil leaks, never had a
drop by the seal, and now they have gone and changed
it WTF,,,,,,,,,, why mess something up that works, the
old seal was the orange double lipped deal and sealed
up really nice in opinion,,,,,,,,, so I guess it's
back to the fel pro seal for me,,,,,,,, just wondering what
the deal is ????????????????
Thanks
Dave

Dave, I bought a 1 piece rear main seal to try in my engine. Planing to install it this winter. I don't know how it will work, but it looks real nice. Kinda pricey though. Heres the link to it, but I got mine from a guy kinda local to me.
Anyone tried these yet?

Guilty party. I have to change the seal to the new part number on our website. I have used both the orange and the new black seals with great results. I have a box of the Mopar seals that I will give away free of charge to anyone who wants to pay the shipping.
I have tried the new 1 piece seals and so far so good. These are not cheap and would also work well with a vaccuum pump. The guy that makes them works just up the road and he works with those Prostock guys that shall not be named in Mooresville NC

Mancini is still advertising the Superperformance Viton PN 9440 and I just bought one from them at the end of August.

The Mancini Superformance #9383 works. Noticed rear leak on Duster the last race and it got really bad with dinner plate sized puddle on the trailer floor from starting motor to put the car in garage. I knew this was coming as I had ordered the Kit at the end of the season and am now getting ready for New Years Day Opener. So I installed the Superformance Kit from underneath (yep, as much fun as you can imagine) and crossed my fingers. No 130 mph runs yet but 1st impressions are promising. Survived extended idle and two 5200 rpm Tbrake stalls. Clean and dry. When it stops raining for Testing or New Years Day I'll confirm it holds up under race conditions. For the moment the vibe is good.

$80 to check out the competition is pretty cheap
I held one in my hand and well....uh...
Cut goes to the top maybe??
I will wait on reports from others
$80 is cheap if it is easy to install and works
Ya'll can hate me if you want but I did a SBC the other day and the rear seal was about $4 and nary a drop in an alky dragster that has had the PEEEE run out of it with no water in the block etc
Mopar guys pay a heavy "tax"
