The D's above may be B's as it has power disc brakes.

Now to the question. I have the following items to use.

I have a 69HP block out of a RR bored .030.
I have KB400 Pistons balanced and ready to put in.
Edelbrock Open Plenum intake. Can't remember if it is a TM6 or Torker.
Holley 600
906 Heads
Hooker Competition Plus Headers

The engine and transmission were gone and I plan to put an automatic trans and this engine back in.

Thinking of using a Comp Cams XE-268 per the tech line at Comp Cams.

Just want to get a second opinion on the camshaft for street fun and good vacuum on the brakes.

A good cam for a 383. Lots of guys running that stick in those engines. I think if you search it on youtube there are a couple videos of 383's running with it.

I would rethink that manifold with your combo.
Performer would work much better.

How could it have come with a 727, and a heavy duty clutch? Or did I miss read? :scope out:

That's why I figured the d codes were b codes. Thanks for the replies. Gonna look for a different intake and order the bump stick as suggested by the mfr.

not a good piston or head choice , but you'll figure that out. I'd think about a Performer RPM.

The pistons are a bad bandaid for a poorly thought out design, the valve relief canyon is so big that they had to put a dome on the piston to make up for it, and the fact that it's .027 in the hole. The good thing is you won't have 10.0 as claimed by KB.

That car has to be the best handling and riding car I've ever driven in terms of an old Mopar. I'd do a mild build on that 383, update the suspension with some nice wheels and a good tire and drive it. Looks like a good ride for Mopower Tour.

Sounds like you are very budget conscious. In my opinion, you will need to plow a bunch of money into that 383 to make it a really good performance engine, and I don't think that is your goal.

I think everything that you are planning is okay. That cam is fine.

I think changing the intake, like others have mentioned, is the one low cost item to seriously consider. However, my recommended hierarchy would be: stock intake, DP4B/Performer, Weiand dual plane.

The stock intake manifold (1968 or newer) is the best choice for 383/400 drivers at this performance level.
