Ez wiring harness issues on my 383 duster.
Fires right up, but not charging. I had the same problem on a 70rr a few years back, and it was solved by disconnecting a wire, but i do not remember which it was. Running alternator exciter wire to one fld post, and the other fld post is going to the voltage regulator.
Any help appreciated. Wanting to drive it tomorrow, but not if it isnt charging...

so just to be sure we are all talking the same thing.
you have 12 volts key on going to one field the other field is going to your vr.
you are using a 71 and up VR.

where is the big post off the alt going? where does it tie in?
have you tried running a line directly back to the battery?

Got it. The switched 12v wire on the harness was not getting any power. Got switched 12v to the regulator, and we are charging. Drove it for the first time today. Been a 5yr project.
Thanks for the input.
