Driving down the street Saturday to save my Kid who ran out of gas and when I backed off the gas pedel to stop the rear end made a loud scream, I lightly got back on the gas and it went away.. but I had to stop for the light so I took my foot off the gas then it went boom !

Screach and ground to an immediate halt...luckily not towing the trailer and the person behind me was able to stop..

Had to get it towed home...just a few blocks, looks like the pinion nut came loose and then came off.
I had to change the Power loc unit about 40K miles ago, when it blew up..and left parts everwhere, so I guess it was only me to blame...
Looks like everything is trashed, I think even the housing is junk.

I had a long chat with the owner of a driveline shop when I went into buy a new yoke for my Dana 60. He showed me a new style pinion nut that fit the 9.25 and Dana 60 and was the latest and greatest. It was less than $20.00 so I bought it and added it to my build. This was at least 2 years ago. 9.25s have a history of pinion nut problems...almost 30 years ago I saw first hand how the loss of a pinion nut caused a truck to flip. You were very lucky

I'd tighten it back up and keep going.

OK, seriously, glad no one was hurt, that could have been ugly.

Not going to happen, I actually tried that, just to get it mobile on my drivway... it is trashed. moved a couple of inches and locks up again.

When my pinion nut came loose I could hear a high pitched whine on deceleration and knew something was up, tightened it up and no issues a year later. I would expect it to give some warning if a person pays any attention to such things.

There's a reason the cover looks like a Stop sign!

The crush sleeve eliminator looks like an easy upgrade. I do tow the trailer a lot.
I got the old rear end out and taken apart, it looks like the housing is damaged pretty bad, I think It will need another housing.
There is a lot of damage around the bearing areas and a ding that is almost broken thru the bottom of the housing.

That wasn't the Warlock, was it?

I thought so. I have a complete rear assy with a 3.91 gear sitting in my storage, took it in on trade. I believe it was out of a 2001 truck, but really haven't looked at it too thoroughly.

The "off road" package came with 4.10 gears.
