Dave:

Here's some info I have saved on my computer concerning dana dimensions:

'71-'72 B-body 57 7/8" housing, 63" axle flange to flange, 47.3" perch, 35 spline track-lock sure-grip, 7290 yoke

'70 E-body 56 31/64" housing, 61 5/8" axle flange to flange, 46" perch, 35 spline power-lock sure-grip, 7290 yoke

Can't say if it is 100% accurate, but if it is your differential will be an inch and 3/8 wider than stock.

Jess

Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

You want to put a early B body rear in it and that way when you put the boots on you have more room. Buy the hangers and they bolt right in

Along those lines......

'66 B-body 54 1/4" housing, 59 3/8" axle flange to flange, 44" perch 23 spline power-lock sure-grip, 1330 U-bolt yoke

'67 B-body 54 1/4" housing, 59 3/8" axle flange to flange, 44" perch 23 spline power-lock sure-grip, 1330 strap yoke

'68-'69 B-body 54 15/16" housing, 60 1/16" axle flange to flange, 44" perch, 23 spline power-lock sure-grip, 7290 yoke

'70 B-body 54 15/16" housing, 60 1/16" axle flange to flange, 44" perch, 35 spline power-lock sure-grip, 7290 yoke

By the way, I think I got these dimensions from Dr. Diff's website.

Okay, so a 70 E-body and a 71 B-body is not a quicky swap. thanks!

71 B-body Dana's are quite hard to find and worth more to the right buyer, so don't cut it!

I put a 1970 B body Dana in my 71 Cuda, the B body Dana is basically 1" narrower on each side than an E body Dana. Take all your measurements, including degrees and locations of the spring perches, carefully cut/grind of the perch welds and relocate the perches on the axle housing to match the E body location. I used Hemi springs and put on a stock sway bar set up, works and looks perfect. Check with Dr Diff-- www.doctordiff.com for other options using special brackets.
