#Hideaway headlights and color keyed bumpers? Are there any pictures of factory cars?

I have googled images of cars and looked at the 71 Charger websites but no luck
Needed for a modeling project(s)
Thanks in advance!

Nope. Not a possible combination.

Besides not being available as an option?

I believe the hide-a-way headlight surrounds and the elastomeric coating made for a snug fit. Seeing as how the surrounds are cast pot metal, I suspect there may have been some concern of them either being damaged, or them damaging the elastomeric coating. Purely speculation on my part though.

I believe (Mike)440trk has the definitive answer.
I would like to see someone attempt the combination...think it would look great.

Hello, I saw this post and thought I would chime in. 18 years ago I built a 72 Charger for my wife. She wanted the car white and I don't like the looks of chrome bumpers on a white car (personal choice) so I took my straight bumpers and etched them carefully with the sand blaster and primed them with Epoxy and painted them. They have held up great!..No problems and the hideaway headlight system that I had was pitted pretty good so I blasted it carefully and primed with epoxy and painted it with black texture paint and it too has held up well.
I am sure you couldn't get this combination from the factory but I like the looks of it.

I agree, I like the look as well.

Just as a side note, the factory elastomeric coating was a good bit thicker than just paint, which is why I suspect the clearance/interference issue with the hide-a-ways.

I liked the colored bumper on mine so I sandblasted the chrome bumpers and painted them.

Would have to see the fender tags or broadcast sheet to verify

Anyone can paint chrome bumpers or add
