Hello all, It's been quite a while since I've been on here because of that thing called "life" but last week Tuesday, I got down to the local track, Great Lakes Dragway and made history. 67 Coronet, 470, 4.10 dana, blah blah and got a new best.... 11.23 @ 121mph. I had a buddy of mine join me and take A LOT of video of my runs, showing how the car reacts and what could be done to tune it for a quicker time. I've posted Q's here in the past and have had a lot of responses, some of which were very helpful. I've got a few things to do to hit that 10.99 mark, and hope to do so when next year comes around. I'd like to say thanks to everyone here who have chimed in on my Q's that I've asked (yah, I'm a slow learner at times) and wish the best for everyone here. Here's a still shot of me off the line... not the 11.23 run, but still pretty cool! Regards, Dave

Congrats on the new best in that cool Coronet. Good luck getting that 10.99 slip as I know its a good feeling to break that 11.00 mark as I first ran 10's at a T & T and then last year when I ran in a NSS race I remember when I put my dail on my window that it was the first time I had ever got to put a 10 something dail on my window. That was a very good feeling. I am sure it wont be to long before you hit that magic 10 second mark. Ron

Whats the time slip show on all the incrementals? Maybe we can give you some pointer on what is good and what is not so good
Don't have a working scanner here so here's the time slip info: r/t .138 60' 1.642 330 4.596 1/8th 7.228, mph 98.46 1000' 9.428 1/4 11.23 mph 121
Something I forgot to include in my initial post, I put on a 150 shot of NOS which I am still getting used to... here's the deal, I have a momentary button mounted on my dash, right next to where my thumb would hit perfectly to press it while holding onto the steering wheel (should take a pic of it to explain this further). I am convinced that if I put the microswitch on the throttle so I have a better control of it vs using a thumb, I'll be in the 10's. Having not used nitrous before, I did some test hits with it... first couple runs to get the feel of it, I didn't hit the button until I was in "drive" the best was a 11.50 at xx mph. Said the hell with it, lets try to hit that button right after shifting into 2nd (hope that makes sense). Got lucky with that after a couple more runs and finally hit that 11.23 and called it a night (need to upgrade my front brakes!). I talked to a bud of mine who said ya gotta spray that bi...ch right out of the hole and the 10 sec time WILL happen.
So, after I get that set up, I'll see how she reacts. I do know I might want to play with the rear shocks, they are QA-1's, single adjustable, set at the halfway mark (50/50 I guess it would be) Thought about moving the setting up one on the positive side for a stronger plant. I do have Caltracs, but no mono leaf, they are the old xtra heavy duty leafs BUT, my 60' isn't all that bad. They are set to what Caltrac recommends according to their info sheet. M/T slicks, 15x28x11.5 set at 19psi. Perfect patch.
That's a lot of info, hope to hear some suggestions in the near future. Again, thanks to everyone on here
Dave

Nice work, I went a new best this year as well and I know it feels good, Congrats! Judging from your incrementals, your 10 second slip lies in figuring out the 1st 60 feet. For your ET, MPH and all other incrementals, the 60 ft. is off by a pretty wide margin. 4.10's with the tall tires may be to blame, but probably also make for a pretty livable street ride. For reference, my car is faster to 60' @ 1.633, running 11.80's. Every incremental from their on seems to get better though. Gorgeous car, by the way!!

I think the 60' could be a little bit better personally. Tuesday isn't the best night to go to GLD, give it a shot on a Thursday night and usually the track is working better.
What's the suspension/shock setup? I'd possibly be willing to come meet ya at the track and watch things, I know another member may be there firday night with a dart
Friday night is the plan for me, ugly white dart with a black hood.

Well done, always nice to have a new best. Your 60 ft definitely needs looking at, what does it run on the motor ? I used to have a 67 R/T, lovely cars. Mick

I have been there on Thursday nights... to be honest, I haven't really seen a significant difference. Infact, I did see those guys do additional spray/glue on the track at the line when I'd pull up... haha, they know me there. 90/10's in the front, stock suspension otherwise (I am seriously considering the 6 cyl torsion bars from Firm Feel). Rear are the xtra heavy duty leafs, Caltracs, QA-1 single adjustables set at 50-50. Guys back in the day were using those leafs and doing verrrrrry well so I'm not sold on mono leafs yet.
Unfortunately, my work schedule doesn't allow me to go to the track on the weekends, unless I ask off. Working in sales with liquor means the weekends are INSANE busy.
I do have a list of to-do's and realize some things to consider are the nitrous set up I have; see my earlier post, and tune the suspension. I know that 10.99 is just around the corner, it's just a matter of time
Thanks again to all who have chimed in!! I greatly appreciate it!!
Dave
