Ignition switch could be bad. If I remember an '88 still has a spark control computer of some sort? Been a long time, last one I worked on, it got tossed and installed a Mopar electronic ignition conversion kit.

Check for codes. Throttling up and getting no response could be either TPS or fuel regulator.

check for lose ground wire. the local Dodge dealer replaced two "brains" in my '88 D250 before I found a lose wire that was killing the computer. if you fine a lose wire, you might have a bad "brain".
