Hello Folks,

About to do some plating but not sure on the factory finishes as they were already blasted bare metal when I bought the car. This is a 69 Road Runner and I'm hoping to find the correct finishes for the:

Hood latch:
Hood striker:
Hood release lever:

Trunk latch:
Trunk striker:

My research has not revealed much as I have access to no original cars.

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl, finish on the hood hook and catch/release should be brown zinc. Hood striker are black phosphate and then are painted the color of the car. Pop up spring are also black phosphate.
The trunk realated mechanism are all clear zinc finish. I think the trunk striker might have been in some case also painted the color of the car.

Join is a set I restored for a E Body.

Here's another pic comparing NOS vs my restored brown zinc finishes.

I agree. On Plymouth both the trunk and hood strikers were painted body color.

Holy smoke, those pictures are great, thanks so much! I like the idea of zinc plating the strikers and then paining, that way they wont rust as the paint wears from the striker.

The only thing I am still not sure about is the hood release lever that unlocks the hood latch, its different then the big hook that attaches to the hood, should it be zinc or brown?

THanks,
Carl

Are the bolts that hold the release lever and the safety lever brown zinc also or black phosphate?

The trunk latch needs to be disassembled to be plated properly. Otherwise the part that the key rod goes through could get destroyed in the process
