I see a lot of aftermarket starters do not have a nose cone. To me that is for not only for alignment But support also . Powermaster makes them both ways. My stock starter does not like this 14-1 compression. so I need to buy something. I have had two stock mini starters. on this car in the past. with a lot less compression and they did't live very long.Anyone have or use one of these meziere ts106 starters ? lot of money but a maybe.

I'm very happy with my powermaster starter with no nose cone. I had no problems with at 15:1. I did however have a problem with a Chrysler mini starter with the nose cone. I had it rebuilt but it would not fit the KB block very well so that was when I went with the powermaster starter.

I have had nothing but stock mini starters. On everything from 498 16 to 1 b-1 572 14 to 1 b-1 and on my 14 to 1 572 predator motor never an issue. I also use a oo battery cable with grounds to the frame, block and heads

You are right. A starter w/o a cone is not reliable for a Mopar. My friends went with the Tilton w/o the cone and regretted it. Powermaster and there is one made in PA and another on Colorado. They all work well. Always get a factory rebuilt stock starter as a back up.

The RobbMc starter also has a nose cone and is fully clockable. Very pleased with ours. I believe the latest version is even better, at least it looks like some details are improved. It is called a Generation 2 or something like that, still the same price as a few years back.

Vern I use the small factory Chrysler starter. 572,15-1,34 degrees crank trigger with no retard. No issues with the starter what so ever.

I buy them at the junkyard and take them to my local starter alternater shop for a GOOD rebuild. The better factory ones are longer (higher HP)

I don't know of anything better than a Meziere. Spins a 13:1 572 hemi like the plugs are out of it. The powerglide adapter I had didn't have room for the nose of a stock starter and the Mezeire doesn't have one. I wouldn't go back to any other starter.

Meziere is likely the best. RobbMc also very good. We use an MSD for contingency money. Also a quality starter.

I have been running the same starter since I started racing in early 2000. This starter is out of a 94 Ram with a 3.9 v6 and had over 200k miles on it when I took the truck apart. Now it starts my 12.5-1 500" for the last three years.

I've had good luck with the Powermaster with the nose cone. I have one for sale without it.....if that tells you anything. My compression is over 16-1

Anyone using the Meziere or RobbMc with a 130 tooth flywheel? I have a Koleno block. Things are real tight.

I prefer the Powermaster Ultra Torque or Meziere they are 2 of the best out there.Use a Rock 16 volt battery with either one for the Ultimate cranking system.
When you get up in the 500+ cu in range and 15-1+CR ratio,a good 16 volt battery is just about a must!Sure a 12 volt battery will still crank the engine, but try a 16 volt and you will see the difference.

i'm not running real high compression but i'm using the same mopar performance starter that i bought back in '94. pulled the motor out to freshen it up a couple years ago and found the nose broke off. welded it back on and put it back in. i probably just jinxed myself

If you race and are serious about winning I can't think of any worse way to lose than a starter malfunction. I see this a few times a year and it's become a phobia for me. I not only use a quality starter I change it every 2 seasons.

I'm definitely not one to recommend anything from Mopar Performance, but I have their mini starters on 2 cars and they work great. The one that's on my cuda has been on it for about 14 years.
I also have a factory dodge starter (off a '90 something model truck) on my 14:1 440. Had it rebuilt before I put it on...works great.
