They're doing what they're designed to do. I never had any issues, but I generally had a coating of rubber on my 1/4's to protect them.

Never worried about it myself, but my car doesn't exactly have show quality paint/body either. My 1/4s have a thick layer of rubber/paintguard on them.
If it's some residual glue left on the tires from the track, maybe do a short burnout on the street to burn it off?

I haven't ever had issue with mine, after being on the highway for awhile sometimes they are pretty sticky but nothing crazy. I have never worried about the paint on the quarters behind the tires and yet it seems to have held up better than the rest of the car.

3m makes a clear chip guard you can put on. Or switch rims and tires for street driving.

Armor All makes a product called Custom shield. It is a spray coating like plastic that peels off. It works great!
